If you win, you have friends, as Doe Maar already sang. And if you win, are rich and marry, you not only have many friends, you especially have a lot of famous friends. Jeff Bezos stumbles over the VIP friends, because no matter how wealthy they were themselves, being present at the wedding of one of the richest men on earth is something the celebs want. Moreover, you can never know when you might need a business boost, so keeping Bezos a bit friendly is not such a crazy idea after all.

VIP wedding: star parade in Venice

Lauren Sanchez's brother may not have been present at the wedding, but half of Hollywood was. From Oprah Winfrey to Orlando Bloom, Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Gayle King, Sydney Sweeney, and a whole bunch of others – they were all in Venice to attend the 50 million dollar wedding.

Why Charlize Theron stayed away

And not only that, she also dared to publicly criticize the marriage of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. And that, not many people dare to do. In Hollywood, the thought reigns: keep your friends close and your enemies closer. In other words, you never know what you have in someone. But that does not apply to Charlize Theron. She spoke at an event in Hollywood and joked to the attendees that they were probably the only ones who were NOT invited to the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. To immediately add that this was not a big deal, because “they are fake and we are real.”.

Criticism of Jeff Bezos and his wealth

There are many people who find it wrong that someone like Bezos can be so exceptionally rich. You wouldn't be able to become that without tightening the screws a bit too hard here and there and occasionally pulling a sheet tightly over the nose. Or as my dear colleague S. says: “I don't mind if people are rich, but why should one person be richer than an entire country?” And I believe that Charlize agrees with that. And maybe Charlize Theron thinks something of Jeff Bezos, but even more of the Bezos Bunch, or all the yes-sayers and sycophants who happily attended the Venetian party.

Charlize Theron's past and courage

That Charlize is a brave lady, we have known for a while. Her story is horrific. She grew up in South Africa, where she witnessed her father being murdered by her mother. This was after her father, drunk, had threatened to kill her mother, after which her mother aimed a gun at her father. Charlize and her mother left for Hollywood, where she acted her way to the top all by herself. All this calls for one concluding sentence: hats off, Charlize!
