Is it better to drink a huge glass of water in one go to hydrate yourself or is it better to sip small amounts throughout the day?

Better in one go a large glass or sip by sip?

The answer is simple and clear: it's better to binge drink. In other words: drink all your water in one big gulp. Every time you take a sip, whether it's from your cup or your glass, bacteria come along. Your body needs time and energy to fight those bacteria. It's not that you'll get sick from it, but it's good to know. And it does make sense: every time you drink, there's a kind of dirt, even in your mouth. To get yourself clean again, your body is at work. If you drink everything from that bottle in one go, then you've only taken in that dirt once, while you've still drunk a lot of water.

What is the most you can drink?

The kidneys can process about 0.7 to 1 liter of water per hour. If you drink more, the salt balance gets disturbed and your brain cells can swell. Yuck, just the thought of it. So definitely don't drink more than that, never. Preferably even a bit less. A large glass is certainly enough for hydration, but not a small sip every hour. Now you know that too.
