Electric, cool, safe, and unique? This is your ideal bike

Once you've cycled electrically, you really never want to go back. I feel a bit sorry for my younger self, who had to pedal twelve boring kilometers back and forth every day. The only ‘help’ was an older villager who rode at the front of the peloton that went from Wemeldinge to Goes. Good times? Not really.

Team electric, but with style

So yes: I am team e-bike. But to be honest, finding the perfect electric bike was still a quest. I had a few requirements. No cookie-cutter models please — you know, one of those bikes that half the neighborhood already has. And also not too sturdy, or in colors that give me spontaneous visions of my grandma's bike with plastic flower print saddlebags.

And then there was: the E-bike from WATT

Enter the E-bike from WATT. It was love at first sight. It looks like a ‘normal’ bike, but with a subtle retro twist (love). I chose the color taupe — because yes, even on a bike I want to make a color statement that is just a bit less standard than matte black, which is also nice. It also fits perfectly with my interior, although it’s of course not in the living room. Although that would be quite stylish.

Invisible battery, smart details

The battery is hidden in the frame — sleek and minimalist. You can charge it in two ways: simply via a cord attached to the frame, or you take the battery out (with a little key, so theft-proof) and charge it indoors. Ideal if you live on the third floor or don’t have a socket in the shed.

How does it ride? Lighter than you think

It weighs less than 20 kilos (hello, carrying comfort) and has a range of 50 to 70 kilometers. Is the battery empty? Then you can fully charge it in two to three hours. So after a morning coffee and lunch, you’re back on the road.

Details that make you happy

You control the lighting with a button on the display, the tires have reflectors on the side for extra safety. And the brown leather handles? Soft, stylish, and matching with the saddle. Sometimes happiness is found in small things.

You can simply order online. Within five days, your bike will be delivered ready to ride at home. If you – I can’t imagine it – are not in love: you have a 30-day return policy.

Advantage: discount. Disadvantage: your family wants to borrow it too

There’s also a €400 discount, so the time to switch is now. Disadvantage? One small thing. The question: “Mom, can I borrow your bike?” comes up just a bit too often here.
