Máxima’s favorite store opens in Amsterdam

We may not agree on everything, you and I, but the fact that our queen has an exceptionally good taste is not up for debate, right? What I find impressive is that she always knows how to adapt her taste and style so well to the occasion and always looks good – no matter the circumstances.

Máxima's ski suit
Every year, a photoshoot of the royal family is done at the beginning of their ski holiday. And that naturally calls for a nice outfit. In the past, finding a somewhat stylish ski suit wasn't really easy. It was mostly fluffy and fuzzy, but stylish? Meh.
That was until Sandra Peet sat down at the drawing board and decided to design a ski suit that was warm, comfortable, fashionable, and feminine. She put on her brave (ski) shoes and sent a few of her suits to our queen's assistant. She used to shop at the Skihut, a store in The Hague that sold all kinds of ski suits – and Peet worked there at the time.
Máxima wore Sandra Peet's suits at the next photoshoot, and all the sessions thereafter. The rest is ski suit history. Goldbergh – that's who I'm talking about – has not only conquered Máxima but pretty much the whole world.

Goldbergh opens its own flagship store
I'll tell you: I got inspired to ski again through a sample sale at Goldbergh, where I went a bit old school. My ski wardrobe has now wonderfully expanded. Because those suits from Goldbergh have a bit of a push-up effect at the back, the jackets are tailored, and they have everything you need as a skier.
A small zip pocket that fits your ski pass, suspenders on the inside that allow you to hang your jacket over your shoulders when it's warm – those kinds of things. And it has those covetable items that allow you to make your ski look a fashion statement.
Not only Máxima is a fan, also Kae Sutherland and for example Vivian Hoorn. And me too. You could already buy Goldbergh in many places – also at Net-a-Porter (which is an achievement for a brand; if you can sell there, you count) – but now there is... rapapa rapapa... a real, genuine flagship store in Amsterdam. And as a high-end brand, you can really only be in one place, and that is of course P.C. Hooftstraat.

At our place in the PC
Last week, Goldbergh opened the doors of a beautiful, two-story building. You immediately get into the winter sports vibes when you see the window display, featuring a gold-colored ski lift and a selection of the most diverse suits and jackets.
If you love exuberant and colorful, then Goldbergh is the right place for you. But if you are – like me – more into understated colors with a twist? Then I recommend the camel-colored edition with ski pants with fringes. Or the black jacket with layers – my goodness, what a beauty that is.
What my personal outfit is? A somewhat understated suit, and then flash with my golden Goldbergh helmet, the fluffy mittens, and the funfur body warmer. Oh, and they also have a delicious après-ski line. I'm really going to live in my vest with fringes and two knitted squirrels.
