Is P. Diddy's mother guilty of his behavior?

His youth was anything but normal

The longer Diddy is locked up, the more details emerge about what exactly happened at the infamous ‘White Parties’. One thing is clear: it was anything but festive. The question remains how the rapper ever thought of organizing such ‘freak offs’. It seems that we will also get an answer to this. In the new documentary ‘Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy’ producer and childhood friend Tim Patterson makes a rather bizarre revelation: Diddy was inspired by his mother's house parties.

Intense parties

Tim Patterson grew up with Diddy and was often at his home. Here they were constantly exposed to alcohol, drugs, and intense atmospheres. “On weekends, there were parties at Diddy’s house, and we did that often. We were surrounded by all kinds of alcohol and weed. There were drug addicts, pimps, and dealers.” According to Patterson, it often happened that they walked into a random room in the house and saw a group of people having sex. These parties were organized by Janice Combs, Diddy's mother. Everyone was welcome, and she specifically invited women to ensure that the other attendees felt comfortable. According to Patterson, they didn't realize how bizarre the situation actually was at the time. “This was what we were witnessing; this was what was presented to us. Did it make us insensitive? I’m sure of that. Were we aware of it? No, that was just a Saturday night.”

Big consequences

Why Diddy eventually started his own ‘White Parties’ and ‘freak offs’ will only be known during his trial; if we ever really find out. For Patterson, that remains the big question, although he believes the parties in the parental home must have something to do with it. “I don’t know the answer to the question ‘why’, but I truly believe it all goes back to his youth.” Additionally, the rapper's history of being bullied would have played a role in his later behavior. Diddy attended a Catholic boys‘ school and was bullied for years. He was seen as ’the rich kid' and supposedly wasn't cool enough. All these experiences could have contributed to the scandal Diddy is now in, according to Patterson. It at least gives us an idea of why he mother still believes in his innocence and considers all the charges against him to be nothing but lies.
