Pumpkins, candles, *Autumn in New York* on the playlist and especially a new coat – that captures this season, in my opinion, the best. And if there's something that makes me happy, it's those in-between coats. Those that are perfect for autumn now and that you might wear comfortably indoors later. I scoured the racks at my friends from Pauw Amsterdam (and I usually do this at the branch in Heemstede, because it's delightfully large and the sweetest Viola, Cécile, and Mees work there) and chose the most beautiful in-between coats of the moment.

1. Capeje Liberadd

Liberadd is a Korean brand, and you know it: Korea is currently setting many trends in fashion and beauty. The fun thing about this coat is that it's a hybrid between a coat and a cape. The belt is at the front, but you can't see it at the back, so it falls very smoothly over your back. I have it in beige and practically live in it. No matter how simple your look is, with this jacket you are immediately casually dressed. This is the ideal autumn coat for a relaxed yet stylish look.

2. Gray wool jacket from Alter Ego

Alter Ego is also a lovely brand, and this time from Dutch soil. Vincent – Vinnie for many – launched it a few years ago and wanted a brand that fits a ‘rock-n-roll lifestyle’. Hence a lot of leather and fake fur, but also many great wool jackets, like this one. Again: perfect for autumn, but can also be worn indoors over a shirt, turtleneck, or blouse. This wool jacket is perfect for autumn and offers both warmth and style.

3. Camel teddy from Max Mara

If there's one thing that is on every woman's wishlist, it's such a teddy from Max Mara, right? A coat that offers you instant comfort and gives a more luxurious feeling than a tower of caviar and a glass of Blanc de Blancs champagne? I wore two of those. One has a diagonal zipper, wide lapel collar, and a wide sleeve insertion that creates the suggestion of a blazer, with the comfort of a cardigan. The other is more of a cape, beautifully trimmed with a leather edge and buttons at the waist that you could also undo. Max Mara always guarantees quality and style. If you're looking for a luxury autumn coat, this is the perfect choice.

Why these in-between coats are perfect for autumn

Autumn calls for coats that are not too warm, but also not too cold – and that's exactly why in-between coats are ideal for this season. These coats are versatile, stylish, and can be worn both outdoors and indoors. Because when you really have to switch to the heavier work regarding coats, you just wear this jacket with a shirt or tank top underneath when you're indoors. Just look at how your costs per wear drop.

And so it happened that during this shoot I visited the most beautiful porches of Amsterdam South (all for the picture), while I was terrified that an angry resident would come out with a firm “what are you doing here?”. Today, I received a DM via Instagram from a follower informing me that it was her doorstep and if I would like to come for a coffee next time. Now, those are nice messages on a Tuesday morning. I'm going to plan another porch shoot right away.
