From an emancipatory perspective, you might want to move away from marriage as the highest achievable goal, but being asked to marry by my great love was still a moment with a golden edge. Apart from the marriage, it is just wonderful that your beloved has done their best to put you in the spotlight and to shape your love into a more solid form.

Nice news for Ashley, Jessica, Amanda, Brittany, Sarah, Samantha, Emily, Stephanie, Elizabeth, Megan, Jennifer, Lauren, Kayla, Nicole, Chelsea, Rachel, Taylor, Danielle, Amber, Rebecca, Courtney, Victoria, Kelsey, Melissa, and Michelle, because it could – enormously semi-scientifically reasoned – just be the year in which your beloved goes down on one knee.

How do we come to this calculation? Well, the average age at which women marry (if you are getting married; then this is a super handy list of things you need to do) is 35 years. An engagement lasts on average one and a half years, so most women in the Netherlands are asked to marry at the age of 33 (by the way, I find this the most fun ways to propose, just saying). We are now in 2025; subtract 33 years from that and look at which girls' names were popular then and especially given to girls during that period, and you are there.

You are probably prepared. And will you send me a card?

Love,
May
