For some it's the day of love, for others a commercial gimmick. Either way: the day of luv is celebrated worldwide as a crazy event today. Time to dig up some facts about Valentine's Day. Did you know this?

1. But starting right away with the basics: we owe Valentine's Day to Bishop Valentinus. This romantic married lovers in secret, despite the emperor having forbidden it. Too bad the emperor found out anyway and sentenced the bishop to death. Valentinus was beheaded on February 14. That day was later declared the Day of Love.

2. In Germany, by the way, Valentine's Day is not celebrated at all; there it is considered an unlucky day. That's because 14 February is the birthday of Judas: Jesus' traitor.

3. Fortunately, Argentines are nice and romantic. For these lovebirds, one day is not enough. They pull out a whole week to celebrate Valentine's Day. Awh.
