6 goedkope hotels in Parijs die stiekem best chic zijn

Don't hate me, but for my work I've been able to tick off quite a few five-star hotels in Paris from my bucket list, but when I travel privately, I also prefer to stay in a cheap hotel. Well, not prefer, but one has to make some choices. For work, I stayed at Hotel Costes, Le Bristol (I got inspiration for my children's book there), Le Meurice, The Westin, Royal Monceau... Not to brag, but just to let you know that I also don't like a hotel with a shower in the hallway and a room the size of a postage stamp.
But fair is fair: such a five-star hotel will cost you half a month's salary just like that. And although it's wonderful to sleep under linen with a ‘thread count of 800’, you spend three-quarters of the time in dreamland anyway. So I'd rather save my pennies for dinners, croissants, and shopping in Paris. I snooped around and found six quite affordable, almost cheap hotels where you can sleep quite stylishly.
Hotel Crystal – affordable in Saint-Germain-des-Prés
My personal favorite where I actually always stay when I travel privately is: Hotel Crystal. It is literally a hop from Café de Flore and Les Deux Magots, right in the beautiful Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Okay, you shouldn't have a fear of germs: that little blanket at the foot of the bed has seen better days. But hey, the rooms are tidy, the beds are fine, and for about €180 per night (sometimes with three people!) this is an absolute gem in Paris.
Address: 24 Rue Saint-Benoît, 75006 Paris
Price indication: From €140 per night

Hôtel de Roubaix – cheap and charming in Le Marais
Near the Centre Pompidou and the coziness of Le Marais, you will find Hôtel de Roubaix. The rooms are small but fresh and colorfully decorated. Think a bit boutique, but without the corresponding price. The lobby is hipster-chic and the staff speaks friendly English.
Address: 6 Rue Greneta, 75003 Paris
Price indication: From €110 per night

Hotel du College de France – classic in the Quartier Latin
If you want to sleep among old books and the atmosphere of the Sorbonne, then you must go to Hotel du College de France. Quiet neighborhood, super clean rooms, and a friendly breakfast that is actually much better than you would expect for the price. Plus: just a few minutes' walk from the Seine.
Address: 7 Place de l’École, 75005 Paris
Price indication: From €120 per night
Hotel de la Porte Dorée – romantic and sustainable
A bit outside the busy center, but still within the ring of Paris, you will find the charming Hotel de la Porte Dorée. Many rooms have wooden floors, fireplaces, and vintage details. Extra nice: this hotel is completely eco-friendly. With breakfast in the greenhouse!
Address: 273 Avenue Daumesnil, 75012 Paris
Price indication: From €100 per night

Hotel des Arts Montmartre – sleeping among the artists
Montmartre is always a good idea. Especially if you get to sleep in Hotel des Arts, a cozy little hotel just a few steps from the Sacré-Cœur. The rooms are modern and bright, and some have a phenomenal view over Paris. This is one of those hotels where you feel like a local.
Address: 5 Rue Tholozé, 75018 Paris
Price indication: From €150 per night

Hotel Darcet – basic but brilliant at Place de Clichy
Okay, no chandeliers and marble lobbies here, but Hotel Darcet has everything you need: clean rooms, free coffee downstairs, a nice location, and super friendly staff. You can walk to Montmartre or the Opéra in no time.
Address: 4 Rue Darcet, 75017 Paris
Price indication: From €90 per night

Small tip for big savings:
Want to really get the most out of your budget? Book directly through the hotel's website or through reliable sites like Booking.com – you often get an extra discount or free breakfast that way.
