This mascara at €16.99 is the best ever

If there is one beauty product I have come to understand, it is mascara. I have been using it for about fifty years (okay, a bit exaggerated, but it feels that way) and have seen quite a bit of eyelash decoration come and go. Yet it was the Oh Yes! Lashes from Douglas, their own house brand priced at €16.99, that really surprised me this month. It lengthens, thickens, doesn’t clump, and is easy to remove as well. In short: my new favorite, and at a price where you often don’t even get half a tube with the more expensive brands.
Why I always buy just a bit too much at Douglas
I was recently at the brand new branch on the Binnenweg in Heemstede, just around the corner from me, and I really only needed one thing. But Douglas does something to me. I become as greedy as a raccoon at an abandoned campsite: I rummage through everything and then walk away satisfied with a full backpack. Before I knew it, there was a powder brush, a set of false eyelashes, an eyeliner, and a concealer in my basket. And that while I had just popped in quickly.

How I ended up with this mascara
Since my basket was already quite full, I definitely didn’t want to spend a lot on mascara as well. I had a party that evening and wanted my false eyelashes to blend well with my own lashes, so I asked the girl who was helping me for an affordable option that I could apply thickly. She came up with the Oh Yes! Lashes from Douglas's own brand and assured me that it was really good. I believed her immediately: she had been advising me skillfully for half an hour, and became even a bit more pleasant when she threw in a set of Shiseido eye pads as a bonus. A sign that I had been shopping quite a bit, but a lovely extra, because those eye pads even tighten bags under the eyes after a forty-eight-hour delivery.
How the Oh Yes! Lashes mascara feels and works
And so, that mascara. The Oh Yes! Lashes applies almost effortlessly, makes your lashes visibly longer and fuller in one coat, and doesn’t clump, even if you, like me, get a bit too enthusiastic with the brush. At least as nice: at the end of the evening, it also comes off easily from your lashes, something that more expensive mascaras, no matter how beautiful the result during the day, sometimes struggle with.
Does this mascara also work well with false eyelashes?
For me, this was the test, because I wanted to blend my own lashes with a set of false lashes that evening. By brushing the mascara thickly over the base of the false lashes and my own lashes, the harsh transition completely disappeared. Exactly the effect I had hoped for, and exactly why I chose a mascara that I could apply thickly without guilt.

Is the Oh Yes! Lashes mascara a recommendation?
For now, I am sold. I won’t claim that I will never touch another mascara again, because in that area I am indeed a cheater, but for €16.99 this is one of the best price-quality ratios I have found in a long time. Enough reason to just grab it the next time you step into Douglas. Although that will probably happen automatically anyway.
