Bridgerton fans pay attention: Netflix is coming with a new spin-off
about Lady Violet Bridgerton
Dearest gentle readers, good news for fans of Bridgerton: Netflix is expanding this universe again. The streaming service has given the green light for the production of a new spin-off that revolves entirely around the young Lady Violet Bridgerton. This means viewers will finally see more of the woman who is primarily known in the original series as the mother of the Bridgerton family.
The new series will be a limited series and takes place, just like Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, before the events of the original Bridgerton series. The story focuses on the young Violet and her romance with Edmund Bridgerton, the man she ultimately marries and with whom she has a large family.

The love between Violet and Edmund
Netflix has not yet announced an official title for the spin-off. For now, the project is described as a title-less Bridgerton series. Since the previous spin-off was named Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, a title like Lady Violet: A Bridgerton Story seems obvious, although nothing has been officially confirmed about that at this time.
Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini are leading the series. They are involved as writers, showrunners, and executive producers. Tom Verica is also returning as director and executive producer. He previously worked on both Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte and is also known for series like Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal. Betsy Beers, a long-time creative partner of Shonda, will also be an executive producer.
The story promises to show a very different side of Violet (I am VERY curious about that). In Bridgerton, we know her as the warm but sometimes worried mother trying to guide her children through the London marriage market. In the new series, we see her before she became the countess and later widow of Edmund Bridgerton.
Violet was previously seen in Queen Charlotte
Fans have already gotten a small glimpse of Violet's young years. In Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the teenage Violet Ledger was played by Connie Jenkins-Greig. It is not yet known if she will return in the new spin-off.
It is also unclear whether other familiar faces from Queen Charlotte will appear in the series. Netflix has not announced anything about that for now. The choice for the spin-off with Violet is surprising, but at the same time not very strange. The character has been an important part of Bridgerton since the first season and is also extremely popular among Bridgerton fans. Her marriage to Edmund and the loss of her husband have also played a significant role in who Violet ultimately becomes.
Another prequel
With this series, Netflix is once again choosing a story that takes place before Bridgerton. This worked brilliantly before with Queen Charlotte, which centered on the story of Queen Charlotte and her young years.
Queen Charlotte premiered in 2023 and became an international success. The six-part series reached the number one spot on the Netflix list of most popular English-language series in no less than 91 countries. Netflix seems to be building further on the Bridgerton universe. Instead of just adapting the stories from the books, Netflix now has the opportunity to tell more background stories of well-known characters.
Meanwhile, season 5 is in the works
For fans of the original series, there is still plenty of other Bridgerton news. The fifth season is currently in production in London. It will focus on Francesca Bridgerton, played by Hannah Dodd, and Michaela Stirling, played by Masali Baduza, this season.
The fourth season proved to be another success for Netflix, receiving numerous rave reviews. The season debuted directly at the top of the global Netflix list for English-language series. With a fifth season and a new spin-off, it does not seem that the interest in the world of the Bridgertons will fade anytime soon.
When the new series about Violet will be released is still unknown. An official title, cast, and release date are also currently missing. One thing is clear: Netflix is far from done with the Bridgerton family. And we can start getting excited.
