There are series that you watch calmly, neatly spread over a week. And there are series that you click on Friday night and suddenly think on Sunday: oh yes, there is also the outside world.
And because I now find myself in that empty gap between “seen everything” and “should I order the books after all?”, I have already made a small recovery plan. For everyone who also wants to linger in the world of campus, love, bad timing, and way too attractive main characters.
Maxton Hall
For when you mainly came for the tension between two people who supposedly want nothing to do with each other. Think: elite school, drama, glances, class difference, and just enough chaos to start one more episode. Available on Prime Video, so you don't even have to leave your couch.
The Summer I Turned Pretty
If you after Off Campus mainly need romance, sun, triangles, and people who look at each other for way too long without just saying what they mean. Less college, more summer, but the same “I am now emotionally invested here” energy.
My Life with the Walter Boys
A girl, a completely new life, and multiple boys that make you hear yourself say: no, choose that one. Or wait, that other one. Delightful Netflix fodder for when you're looking for something that starts light and then quietly takes over your entire evening.
Tell Me Lies
For those who after Off Campus think: can it be a bit more toxic? This is campus, attraction, and red flags, but without the cozy romcom filter. Not necessarily comfort television, but extremely addictive.
The Sex Lives of College Girls
If you mainly want to hold on to the campus vibe, but with more humor, friend groups, awkward choices, and freshman energy. Messy in the right way.
One Day
Not the same atmosphere, but the same danger: you start it and suddenly you are way too involved. A bit more mature, a bit more painful, but perfect if you can still handle one book adaptation after all that BookTok chaos.
In short: no, we don't have to go back to documentaries or serious television yet. First, let's recover. With more drama. More attractive people. And probably still those books in your shopping cart.
