In recent years, Alo and Lululemon have proven to be two of the most popular names in the world of activewear. Their leggings, tops, and sweaters are no longer just meant for the gym: from Pilates classes to coffee runs, you see them everywhere. It has also become the off-duty model look, and celebrities like Photography by, Hailey Bieber, Gigi Hadid, and Kaia Gerber are regularly spotted in the sportswear of these brands. The workout sets fit like a glove, but of course, there is also a hefty price tag attached: if you want everything to match, you quickly end up spending a decent amount per set. The leggings and Define Jacket from Lululemon have become a household name in the world of activewear. They are comfortable, last long, and feel supportive. H&M also has sports vests, and they come in many more colors than the Define Jacket from Lululemon. Extra handy: they are quick-drying and have thumbholes, just like the well-known Lululemon variant. Matching items are also available, from shirts and tank tops to sports bras, so you can create your perfect set.

Alo
Since the opening of the first Alo stores in Amsterdam last year, the brand has also become an integral part of the street scene here. The recognizable sets pop up everywhere, and in some matching outfits, it almost seems like you’re seeing double. While we mainly know Lululemon for its timeless black and neutral basics, Alo dares to play a bit more with color. The new color launched last week is Pink Marshmallow, with Kylie Jenner as the face. It’s no coincidence that when you filter for pink on the H&M site under sportswear, you come across various items in exactly that same color.
My Lululemons remain a favorite, but I’ve had a sports set from H&M for a while now, and I’m a fan. The leggings have pockets where my phone fits easily, and the jacket is perfectly tailored.
