Tonight is the night: Apple reveals the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. And although the phone may not look completely different at first glance, there are plenty of reasons to start making a little wish list. Especially for anyone who primarily uses their iPhone to take photos, videos, and create content, there seems to be quite a lot of exciting features coming.
Of course, we all want to know how fast that new phone is. But just as important is the question: what color should I choose, and can my new iPhone finally take even more beautiful photos?
Here are the colors it will come in
Let me start with what is for many the most important aspect of a new iPhone: the color. Because a phone may be technically impressive, but you will be carrying it around all day.
Apple seems to be saying goodbye to the striking colors of the previous generation this year. According to the latest rumors, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will come in Dark Cherry, a deep reddish color that sits somewhere between dark cherry red, burgundy, and purple. Additionally, Sky Blue and a more classic shade like silver or dark gray are mentioned. The exact colors are still a bit uncertain, so we will only know for sure tonight which variants will actually be available.
But that Dark Cherry? I can definitely see myself walking around with it.

The camera might be the most exciting upgrade
For most people, the camera has become one of the main reasons to want a new iPhone. And it seems that Apple is changing something interesting in that area this year.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to again feature three 48-megapixel cameras, but especially the main camera is said to become smarter thanks to a variable aperture. Simply put, this means that the camera can determine how much light comes in. This can be particularly useful in challenging lighting conditions, but also for portrait photos and videos.
And while this may sound like a technical detail that you would normally skim over, it can actually be quite exciting. This means better photos in low light, more control over how your portraits look, and smoother footage when filming from indoors to outdoors, for example.
It also gets more interesting for true photography enthusiasts
Apple seems to be adding more camera features for people who want just a bit more control. Leaked software has revealed hints of features like manual focus, focus peaking and tools to better monitor exposure. There are also talks about a new way to signal overexposure.
This may sound particularly interesting for the avid photographer, but the nice thing is that these kinds of tools can also be handy if you just like to create beautiful content for Instagram, TikTok, or your own gallery. I'm already getting excited about it.
Something new: a smaller Dynamic Island
Something is likely changing on the front as well. Apple is said to be working on a smaller Dynamic Island, as components of Face ID may be processed further under the screen. Do you still get it? Let me explain it for you. That black strip at the top of your iPhone, that's the Dynamic Island. This way, you would have a bit more screen and a bit less black island left.
No more frequent charging
It doesn't stop with the updates. Here's another one that no one ever says no to: a battery that lasts longer. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to get a larger battery and thanks to the new A20 Pro chip (sounds fancy), the device should also be more energy-efficient. According to previous information, this new chip could be about 30 percent more efficient than its predecessor.
So, in plain language: longer scrolling, photographing, filming, and messaging without having to search for an outlet halfway through the day. Tonight we will find out which of these rumors will become reality. And if that Dark Cherry is indeed as beautiful as the leaked images suggest, I already know one thing for sure: that's where my wallet is going.
