Some series just stick with you, even after you've finished watching them a long time ago (or as I like to do, watch them ten times again). Maid is a good example of that for me. This series introduced us to Margaret Qualley, who, as her character Alex, tried to build a new life for herself and her daughter.

And have you missed her on your screen since then? Then I have good news: she stars in the latest drama film Love of Your Life, which is now on Prime Video Grab the tissues again, because this film promises to be very emotional.

What is Love of Your Life on Prime Video about?

In Love of Your Life, we follow Maya, played by Margaret Qualley. She works as a nurse in Boston and meets Charlie, played by Gabriel Basso. What starts as a meeting grows into an intense love affair and a future that Maya could hardly have imagined.

But as it goes in a good drama, her life doesn't go according to plan. When something drastic happens, Maya's future is completely turned upside down. She has to reshape her life and discover who she is, what she wants, and whether she can let love in again.

Moreover, the story doesn't just linger in romance. The film has a strong ‘coming of age‘ theme and follows Maya over several years. It shows how love, loss, and new encounters can give your life a different direction. Sometimes you have to lose everything you thought you wanted before you discover what truly fits you. Sounds like a heavy tearjerker, if you ask me.

Where you probably know Margaret Qualley from

If the name Margaret Qualley doesn't ring a bell immediately: there's a good chance you've seen her face before. She starred in the Netflix series Maid, where she portrayed Alex. A young mother trying to escape a difficult home situation and build an independent life for herself and her daughter.

That role made a complete impression on the audience, precisely because Margaret portrayed her character very emotionally. You really felt what she felt. Also in Love of Your Life, there is again a woman at the center who has to reinvent her life. The stories are not the same, but if you liked her in Maid, you have an extra good reason to add this film to your watchlist.

Where else do you know her from? Margaret Qualley also showed a very different side of herself in the horror film The Substance and also starred in the comedy-drama Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She clearly doesn't just choose one type of role and is thus versatile.

Besides Margaret Qualley, we see Gabriel Basso as Charlie and Aaron Pierre as Felix. Patrick Schwarzenegger (you know, the son of The Terminator) and Catherine Keener are also part of the cast.

For the true film enthusiasts among us, the film is directed by Rachel Morrison, who previously made The Fire Inside and worked as a cinematographer on films like Black Panther and Mudbound. The screenplay is written by Julia Cox. Also Ryan Gosling is involved as a producer in the film. This makes this project a bit more interesting for true film lovers.

Is Love of Your Life something for you?

If you ask me what makes a movie night successful film, it's a movie where you actually want to watch another episode or scene, but meanwhile have already said three times: ‘No, I'm going to sleep soon.’ Love of Your Life seems to be such a film where you snuggle under a blanket, have your favorite snacks next to you, and are completely immersed.

Don't expect a light romcom film where everything is neatly resolved after an hour and a half of watching, but a drama film in which love and life don't always go according to plan. Are you a fan of stories that pull you completely into the lives of the main characters and did you find Margaret Qualley amazing in Maid? Then I would definitely give this one a chance. And a tip: don't start it if you still have a lot to do, because before you know it, your evening is over.
