You can make these 5 iced lattes at home and you don't need a fancy coffee machine for that

Yes, dear people. You wouldn't say it with this gray weather, but spring is really finally coming. Before you know it, everyone will be running outside to catch the first rays of sunshine and you'll finally replace that bomber jacket with a denim jacket. And what will you do with that nice weather? Get a coffee – an iced coffee of course. But yes: although your mood goes up intensely, all those visits to those aesthetic shops where you don't dare to touch anything are not good for your wallet. Unfortunately, I know that all too well. So how do you satisfy your coffee cravings? By making it yourself. It's just as delicious and you really don't need a La Marzocco worth €13,000 for it.

1. Caramel iced latte

Listen: you can never go wrong with a classic. A caramel iced latte is my go-to order during a day out. Or in the morning before my class or shift starts... Let's be honest, oops. Anyway; I love it. A sweet latte with that delicious caramel syrup. I want that, but you really don't have to always get this outside. At home, you just do it like foodie queen herself Veggilaine, with some instant coffee.

You need: +/- 6 ice cubes, 1 tablespoon instant coffee, 1 tablespoon boiling water, and 1 tablespoon (bastard) sugar, a frother, and milk.

How do you make this? Easy: you scoop the instant coffee into your glass. Then you pour 1 tablespoon of boiling water over it. Add the sugar and grab your small frother from the cupboard. You know, that little device you bought during the corona pandemic and used three times. Froth your coffee mixture until it's light brown and fluffy. Then add the ice cubes and the milk and hello: there's your own iced caramel latte.

Responses to @Robin 🎶✨☕️ totally influenced by @emmadethouars her coffees and you can also use milk and 1 tbsp caramel syrup instead of the milk I use! (no spon) #veggilaine #icedcoffee #vjp #voorjou

2. creamy iced Spanish salted latte

If there's one thing I loved during my trip to Barcelona, it was the iced coffee. So it's no surprise that I want to run to my coffee machine to make this now now now. This creamy coffee has a texture that will surprise you and there's a secret ingredient that makes it so delicious. Namely... condensed milk.

You will need: 2 teaspoons instant coffee, 1 tablespoon condensed milk, a pinch (or as much as your heart desires) of cinnamon, a pinch of salt, 60 ml hot water, and 180 ml milk. And yes: this is a large coffee. Do you want the coffee a bit stronger, as this recipe calls for? Then you can go for instant espresso coffee.

How to make this: you start by putting the instant coffee in your cup. Pour the hot water over it and stir until the coffee is completely dissolved. Then add the condensed milk, cinnamon, and salt. Mix this until well combined. Froth it a bit with a small milk frother. Add the ice cubes and pour in your milk of choice. Stir it with your straw and you're ready to take on the day.

3. dalgona whipped coffee

Do you remember when everyone was doing the Renegade dances and making whipped coffee in the early days of TikTok? Personally, I still dream of that ‘dalgona whipped coffee’. It just has something, yes, nostalgic. Luckily, it's not difficult to make. So that's what we're going to do.

You will need: 1 tablespoon instant espresso, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (if you're looking for healthy drinks, you're not in the right place), 1 tablespoon boiling water, and +/- 100 ml milk

How to make this: actually pretty much the same as the recipes above. You start by putting the espresso in your mug. Mix this with boiling water and stir until dissolved. If there's a coffee that needs to be frothed, it's this one. Dalgona coffee is known for its whipped, cream-like texture. So grab your small milk frother and froth your coffee until it looks like caramel pudding. Take another cup or mug that you want to use and fill it with ice cubes. Pour in the milk and add the whipped coffee mixture on top. Do you want an extra large latte? Then go for 160 ml milk and make two portions of your whipped coffee. I'm already getting the urge to make this now.

4. Salted honey iced latte

Are you looking for an iced coffee that is a bit healthier? Then you want one without refined sugar. This salted honey latte is really ideal when you want a sweet drink, without all the sugars and calories. And no: the salt doesn't make it too salty. It's just there to enhance the sweet flavor of the honey. This recipe has just a few ingredients, so it definitely fits into your fit journey.

You will need: two shots of espresso, 1 tablespoon honey, two teaspoons of salt, 200 ml milk.

How to make this: pour your double espresso into a large cup. Add the honey while the espresso is still hot so it can melt nicely. Then sprinkle the salt over it. Mix this well until the honey is evenly mixed. Then pour the milk into your coffee. Grab your favorite iced coffee cup and fill it with ice cubes. You do this in another cup so that your ice cubes don't melt in the hot espresso. First, put the straw in the cup (so your amazing latte doesn't overflow when you put the straw in at the last moment) and carefully pour your latte into the glass. As a honey lover, I can't wait to make this.

5. white mocha iced latte

How can you make an iced coffee list without a white mocha? You can't. This is the drink I took when I took ‘the first steps’ into my coffee connoisseur territory. This is the perfect latte: it's not so sweet that your teeth fall out, but it's also not so bitter that you have to down it in one go like with your turmeric shots. This is not a 10-second recipe, but if you have a quiet morning, this is ideal. Trust me.

You will need: 200 grams of white chocolate chips, 120 ml condensed milk, and 200 ml fresh whipped cream.

How to make this: first we start with the white mocha syrup. Take a small saucepan and pour in the white chocolate chips, condensed milk, and cream. Add a pinch of salt and turn the heat down to low to medium heat. Keep stirring constantly until all the ingredients are smoothly combined. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool completely before pouring it into a sealed container. But yes: you want a white mocha iced latte now. Then you start as usual by brewing your espresso. Fill your cup with ice cubes and pour the espresso over it. Add as much syrup as you want and then pour in the milk. Stir it a bit and you're done. You probably have some syrup left over. That's okay because you can keep it in the fridge for a whole month. You're going to save a lot of money now that you can make a fresh latte at home in just a few minutes.

So yes: it really isn't difficult to make barista-worthy iced lattes at home. All you need is espresso, a small milk frother that is your savior in need, and some other ingredients. And some fun: the money you save from all those café visits can be used to create the coffee bar of your dreams at home.
