New on Netflix October 2026

By

Finally, it's allowed again: putting on your pajamas at eight in the evening and not having to go anywhere. I've already taken the blankets out of the closet and I think that an evening on the couch now simply counts as autumn activities. Just like walking through the woods, but with less chance of wet socks. Fortunately, Netflix is cooperating, because this month we get new seasons of our favorites and enough suspense to put those phone away for an evening. This is what you want to watch in October.

1. East of Eden

Available from October 1

Florence Pugh in a family drama? You've already got my attention. This adaptation of John Steinbeck's novel takes place at the beginning of the twentieth century, when an independent woman causes a rift between two brothers. The story spans two generations, so expect family drama where an awkward Christmas dinner seems modest in comparison. A series I would gladly sit down for. Tea on the side, phone on silent.

2. Animals

Available from October 9

Ben Affleck plays a candidate for the mayoralty of Los Angeles, Kerry Washington his wife. When their son is kidnapped, their carefully built life comes under pressure. Just that combination of actors is already reason enough for me to hit play. And a thriller where snacks will probably remain untouched halfway through? That fits perfectly on my October list. Just make sure to close the curtains before watching.

3. The Trap

Available from October 13

Writer Lisa Konrad hasn't left her house in ten years since her sister's murder. Then she thinks she recognizes the perpetrator on television and devises a risky plan. You understand: my inner detective is immediately on alert. I want to know now if she's right. Perfect for an evening when you're watching together and both know within ten minutes who did it. With totally different suspects, of course.

4. Love Is Blind – season 11

Available from October 14

A new season is ready where singles get engaged before they've even met. I still find it a fascinating concept. I sometimes need three workdays to respond to a message, but these people are choosing a future spouse in the meantime. And yet, I'm always ready.

5. The Diplomat – season 4

Available from October 15

Kate Wyler is back. Keri Russell reprises her role as the American diplomat who has to manage political tensions and a complicated marriage. My own workday suddenly feels quite manageable. If you haven't seen the previous seasons yet, you have a great reason to start now. Just be careful: this is one where I really have to put my phone away, otherwise I'll be asking five minutes later who is fighting with whom.

6. Nobody Wants This – season 3

Available from October 22

Okay, this date is going in the calendar. Joanne and Noah take the next step in their relationship, with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody again in the lead roles. I actually don't need to know more. My weakness for Adam Brody is old enough now for me to get my own Netflix subscription. So this will be an evening with something tasty, my favorite loungewear, and the remote control firmly within reach. One more episode is definitely doable.

7. Lupin – part 4

Available from October 23

Omar Sy is also back, as Assane, who this time goes after a copycat thief. And yes, for him, I gladly make room among all the romance and reality. Just the charm alone. If your October schedule is getting quite full: a Netflix evening counts as an appointment in my book. One you fortunately don't have to dress up for.
