With these totally not boring fashion films, even your boyfriend will want to watch

Friends are not exactly known for enjoying fashion movies. No, the heels, bags and life lessons are often a bit too fussy for them. Most prefer a movie that consists of 90% action scenes, or a horror film of course. Luckily, there are enough fashion films that break that image, so you and that guy next to you can both have a good time. And let me just have lined up a few heart-pounding works for you.
Helter Skelter (2012)
Lilico is a top model, but she has only achieved this dream by undergoing a whole lot of cosmetic procedures. In this Japanese thriller, you see how, as soon as her body starts to break down, her carefully constructed life does too. Visually, it is a colorful, overwhelming work that you won't pause quickly.
Phantom Thread (2017)
It seems like a love story, but when their first kiss happens within half an hour, you can actually already know that it is not. In this psychological drama, Daniel Day-Lewis plays the brilliant but quite demanding couturier Reynolds Woodcock. He designs the most beautiful dresses for members of high society, including the royal family. Then he meets waitress Alma Elson, who starts wearing his dresses and thereby slowly turns his world upside down with all the consequences that entails.
The Neon Demon (2016)
Entering the modeling world of Los Angeles, where everyone tells you that you are the next big thing in a world that is normally so ruthless, sounds like a dream. But for the character of Elle Fanning, the young girl who experiences this, it turns out completely differently in this psychological horror film. Jealousy from other models, men wanting to sexually abuse her, and a lot of other things you would rather not deal with follow quickly. And again, everything visually is the perfect picture.
Eyes of Laura Mars (1978)
Films in which the lead has visions of murders before they happen are nothing new. The police investigates, while the protagonist gets deeper and deeper entangled in the events. But this thriller revolves around fashion photographer Laura Mars, played by Faye Dunaway, who shoots the most beautiful editorials while being confronted with visions of gruesome murders. Throughout all this, you get a glimpse behind the scenes of her stunning shoots and the extravagant sets that defined the seventies.
I wish you and your friend a lot of viewing pleasure! And who knows, he might realize that fashion films aren't so bad after all, and he will be the one who soon Confessions of a Shopaholic starts watching.
