This is the best tested sunscreen and costs only 6 euros

It is very warm again and sunny this week, that means applying sunscreen. You would think that in 2026 it is self-evident, but its importance is still often underestimated. Many people forget it or think they don't need it, but getting sunburned is not the only harmful effect you want to prevent. Sunscreen reduces the risk of skin cancer, prevents pigmentation spots and combats skin aging due to the sun. Enough reason to stock up on some bottles anyway.

There are hundreds of different sunscreen products on the market, and I often think: is more expensive really better? According to the Consumers' Association, no, because all sunscreens sold in Europe must meet the same legal requirements. The sunscreen that comes out as the Best in the Test according to the latest test from the Consumers' Association is surprisingly from Action. The Zenova Sunmilk Sensitive SPF 50 has been chosen as the best for the body and the Zenova Face Sun cream SPF 50+ comes out as the best facial sunscreen in the test. They are very affordable, the bottle for the body costs 6 euros and the one for the face only 4 euros. The sunscreen is suitable for sensitive skin, vegan, and free from microplastics.

Every year, all products are sold anonymously in stores and then tested under equal conditions, this year there were 61. Still, I understand that you wonder why the sunscreens on the pricier side have such a price difference with those from Action. This has nothing to do with UV protection, but often with brand name, packaging, scent, and cosmetic properties. Some high-end creams contain additional ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, or other moisturizing ingredients. However, these extras say nothing about how well it protects the skin from the sun. The Consumers' Association tests for protection against UV A and B radiation, ease of use, environmental impact, and the information on the label.

With the outcome of the test, Action shows that a private label from a discount chain can make just as good products as many well-known brands. I have a sensitive white skin and need to apply sunscreen well and often, so I go through a bit more product. Sunscreen is not a luxury, but you also don't have to spend a lot to achieve the same result.
