We are indeed fans of The Ordinary at the editorial office. As a beauty editor, I am always very curious about the latest launches and developments. Yet we recently had our question marks about ‘The Ordinary Eggs’. Eggs? From the vegan brand The Ordinary?! In their flagship store in New York, you could score boxes of eggs for a mere $3.37. A bargain, especially if you pay almost double in the supermarket. This campaign naturally went mega viral. But is this the beginning of more supermarket products? Probably not. Luxury brands are increasingly using food for their campaigns, think of Loewe with vegetables, Chanel’s La Crème Main that was lying among the eggs, and Rhode’s lip tint in a delightful ice cream cone with vanilla ice cream.

The new launch from The Ordinary

Because we are of course curious about that, and this time it is really something new. The Ordinary is launching their very first essence: the Multi-Active Delivery Essence – a light, watery formula that hydrates your skin and prepares it for the rest of your skincare. The secret? A combination of active ingredients, including glycerin and glycogen, which not only strengthen the skin barrier but also ensure a softer and glowy skin.

What makes this essence so special?

This essence improves the absorption of other skincare products. Your skin is therefore perfectly prepared for all the skincare steps you apply afterwards. That is really something new in the beauty world. Research even shows that if you apply the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum after the essence, its absorption doubles – perfect for lovers of active ingredients in their routine.

Compare it to a conditioner for your hair after washing, why is this step then forgotten, or better said; not used in the past for skincare? Hair conditioner tackles frizzy, dry, and damaged hair, while also providing hydration and soft, smooth hair. This essence does the same for your skin.
