Air pee ‘n poo
Everyone has been there: that terrible moment when you are having a great time strolling through town and… well… you just need to go. You are not at home, since you are in Antwerp for the day, Barcelona for the weekend or New York for the week. But there you are, having to do something that you would prefer to do on your own toilet at home. Public restrooms are incredibly dirty, you won’t be welcome at most restaurants and the nearest McDonalds has a ten-woman queue. What to do?
Inspired by this horror situation, which probably presents itself more often than you think, and the incredibly popular Airbnb, Travis Laurendine and Max Gaudin conceived Airpnp. An app that tells you who near where you are makes his or her restroom available to strangers. Some are free but in principle there’s a fee, as is the case with a bed on Airbnb.
The owner determines what his or her pot will cost. So you might have to pay 10 euros for a hotel restroom in which Tom Cruise, Nicolas Cage and Frank Sinatra may have dropped their pants, while you only have to drop 1 euro for a simple toilet run by a Queens family. Every single one has its own profile page on which you can post your review of your experience in the smallest room.
Airpnp is currently most popular in New Orleans and Antwerp but the first restroom providers have now been registered in New York as well.
