How to make the best sangria
My love for Jamie (Oliver of course) is huge. If I have something in my head, firstly I’ll look to see if Jamie already has a recipe for it. This is usually the case. Just as it was for this delicious jug of sangria that I recently brewed for my girlfriends on a summer day. Note: because this summer beverage is so delicious, it is way too easy to drink way too much of it. So be warned; it can lead to a mega hangover. If you’re a real diehard go for a jog the next morning to run the head ache off.
(makes enough for about 6 people)
What you need and how you do it (don’t be scared off by the long list of ingredients, Jamie knows what he is doing):
– A piece of watermelon (just a big slice) into cubes
– Juice of half a lime
– One lime for decorative slices on the rim
– 10 ml ginger syrup
– 60 ml of white Bacardi
– Prosecco
– Crushed ice
Put three chunks of watermelon in a jug and mash them. I used a big wooden spoon. Mix in the lime juice, ginger syrup, the remaining pieces of watermelon and rum. Then you fill the whole jug with crushed ice and top it off with you a few good swigs of prosecco. Stir it well and pour into glasses. Tadaaa, lime on the edge of the glass for a little fun and santé!
