TIPS to avoid a post lunch slump
Unbutton a button or two, move your chair back a couple of inches and give your belly a bit of a rest. You’re feeling bloated and need a bit of time to revive after your lunch. You were hungry, so you were cramming in as much as possible. That last bite was one bite too many and now all your energy has been drained. And now you’re supposed to get back to work. Pfff, that can be rough. Sound familiar? It’s what we like to call a post lunch slump. We suffer from this too every now and then. How to avoid it? Read below.
– Try steadying the pace while your eating and don’t go for huge portions in one go. It’s important to keep eating throughout the day. I get that you feel hungry if you plan on having lunch around 1 PM, so then opt for a small snack at around 11.00. This way you’ll avoid stacking up your plate at lunch.
– This is going to sound really boring but try not to talk as much while you’re eating and be more aware of your intake. If you’re talking while eating (which is a major pet peeve by the way), you’re going to prop everything in your mouth. Not okay.
– It might help if you decide what you’re going to have beforehand. Go for whole-wheat bread rather than white. White bread has quick working carbs which can make you tired. Go for products with plenty of egg whites and healthy fats too, like avocado or salmon. These slow down the process of nutrient intake, so you’ll feel satiated much quicker, avoiding over eating. Resulting in more energy after lunch.
– Incase you did have a bit too much to eat, go for a short little stroll after lunch. A bit of movement helps your metabolism.
– Let’s not forget that fresh air is always a good cure to avoid an energy slump.
