AMAYZINE DID ITALY

visiting THE city of Limoncello

Whenever a request for a press trip reaches Amayzine HQ, everyone’s intrigued. And rightfully so, because the trip offers that come in here aren’t too shabby. May-Britt went to Cannes and Capri a while ago, our health editor Jet had a relaxing vacay in Jerez (close to Sevilla), another editor went to Uganda and I roamed the streets of Iceland, Chicago and Paris. And this was all in a month’s time by the way. In short: we have the best jobs in the country.

This time our sales director Danielle had the honors of joining the trip to the super cool Villa Massa. Destination? Sorrento, Italy, baby. THE place to be when it comes to the ultimate yellow substance (a.k.a. limoncello). Now I know what you’re thinking. I’m not Danielle so how would I know? Well, I went on the exact same amazing trip last year. The thing that stuck by me the most was visiting the Villa Massa family. They’ve ruled the Limoncello game since 1890. And it’s not surprising, because it’s the only Limoncello brand that’s actually really good because it only uses the best Sorrento lemons which are bottled by traditional Italian family recipe.

‘Some fruits are even as big as melons. Seriously, it’s amazing.’

Picture this: there you are in the middle of a lemon grove eating a piece of the peel, when you start to wonder what the actual F you’re actually doing. But really, it’s all possible in Sorrento. Stefano Massa’s lemons taste sweet instead of intensely sour. Some fruits are even as big as melons. Seriously, it’s amazing. Both Danielle and I would recommend taking this trip, even if it’s only to experience this. And, as we always do, we’re going to give you some good tips on things to do when you’re in Sorrento.

– You’re going to rent a boat ASAP. Because this way you can sail to Capri. And Capri (yup, this is where Capri pants come from) is cool, because you can shop till you drop and every hip celeb has been here at least three times.

– And if you’re already getting on a boat, make sure to sail along all the pretty grottos. Do you know the Dolce &  Gabbana Light Blue commercial with the ridiculously pretty kissing couple? Of course you do. Guess where that was shot. Exactly.

– Also nice: sleeping in the Sorrento Hilton Hotel. The view from the rooms… Mamma mia!

– Besides drinking limoncello and eating pastas and gelatos, why not try out traditional cooking yourself? Danielle went to the traditional cooking school Old Taverna Sorrentina, a very cute place. (Address: Via Fuoro, 19/2, Sorrento). And another tip: Ristorante Zi’Ntonio. You won’t find any more fun dining than here (address: Via Luigi de Maio, Sorrento).

– Still prefer being served? Michelin star restaurant Relais Blu is a must for all you culinary foodies. Dinner on top of a mountain with a killer view? Check! (Address: Via Roncato, 60, Sorrento).

You did it again, Sorrento. Just talking about it makes me realize I have to go back ASAP. Because hey, when life gives you lemons, make limoncello. Duh.
