WHAT YOU SHOULD EAT AND DRINK

when you’re feeling a little under the weather

There’s something in the air. One after the other is starting to sneeze and cough, sometimes even to the point where they can’t get out of bed. Anytime some sort of virus or, well, I wouldn’t call it an epidemic, comes to town, it makes sure not to pass me by. And when you get ill, you get really really ill. But if it’s just a mere cold or flu you feel coming on, you have to make sure you take extra good care of yourself. Here’s what you have to do and what you have to drink and hopefully you’ll beat the flu in the process.

-Don’t drink any alcohol and go to bed early.

-Get dressed in as many layers as you can. Anything to stay warm.

-Take in lots of vitamin C – this will give you and your immune system the necessary boost. You can buy supplements at the drugstore or you can stock up on oranges and grapefruit.

-Drink liters of chamomile tea, add some honey if you want to, when you feel a sore throat coming on.

-Chicken soup is my miracle drug.  If you’re feeling a little under the weather, you need salt. Side note; fresh chicken soup. So use those sweet puppy eyes on your mom because after all, she does make the best bowl.

-Eat a lot of veggies. You can never have too many. Combine them with a fatty fish for dinner for an energy boost.

-Citrosan is another miracle worker when you feel a flu coming on so make sure you always have some at home.

-Last but certainly not least; if you get sick, just take the time to get better and rest. If you don’t, you’re going to be feeling a bit ‘off’ for weeks on end and nobodies got time for that. So: crank up your heaters, put on your warmest pair of sicks, get comfortable on the couch, turn on your favorite TV show, set a pot of tea and indulge in some R&R.
