Why not a lighter version if that's possible? I'm talking about fries here. Of course, those thin (or thick, whatever you want), just a bit overcooked, crispy fries are mega incredibly delicious. But well, many of us see the sun coming through, have booked their holiday already and therefore also have the bikinis out of the closet again. I can imagine that you replace the fries with a somewhat lighter variant. So from vegetables. Out of the oven, just as crispy, just as tasty. At least I think so. And just add a blob of mayo, because it has to stay fun, of course.
Green bean
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Take a bag of carrots, wash them all and cut them as big as fries. Not too thin and not too thick (otherwise it takes a very long time before they are done and I personally prefer them a bit thinner and crispier). Put them in a bowl with plenty of olive oil, freshly ground pepper, and sea salt. You can also add some other herbs like cumin, thyme, or rosemary. It's just what you have at home and what you like.
Lay them on baking paper on a baking tray and bake them for 25 minutes until done. Do check in the oven occasionally and toss them around. When they are brown enough for you, it's done. Sprinkle some extra sea salt on top and you're all set.
Sweet potato
This is always a challenge, because how on earth do you get sweet potato fries crispy? It often happens to me that I do everything according to the recipe, but they come out incredibly limp. The trick is to toss them around often, so all sides can become crispy. And my grandma advises to turn the oven up high at the end (let's say the last 5 minutes).
Do exactly the same as with the carrot fries and set the oven back to 200 degrees. Also nice with a bit of paprika powder.
Celeriac
This is especially incredibly delicious if you make them a little sweet with some agave syrup.
These are the ingredients you need:
1 celeriac
olive oil
2 tablespoons of agave syrup
thyme
salt and pepper
Cut fries from the celeriac and put them in a bowl with all the other ingredients. Place them in the oven for 20 minutes at 180 degrees. Here too, the rule is: toss, toss, toss.
