Anyway, I think to myself twice a week: how wonderful would it be to drive to the beach after work, take a little walk, have a bite to eat, have a drink and go back feeling cozy? It will happen one day, that's for sure. For now, I will drive to Wijk aan Zee the fastest, because I think it's the nicest nearby beach. Still, I sniffed around a bit and asked about other nice beach bars in the country. And now I want to discover them all. Are you coming along?

Recently taken over by the guys who also run Bar Spek, Forno, and Stach. Coincidentally, I find those three places incredibly cool, so this beach bar is just as great. You see lovely large beds and cozy beach chairs here, and the menu features really good wood-fired pizzas, but the fish from the grill is also delicious.

Do you know the places George in Amsterdam and The Hague? Well, that's it, but on the beach. New York style and Parisian brasserie come together here. So that means steak tartare and bistro burger. There's even a pool where you can splash around, although nothing beats the sea, of course. But then you know that luxury is present here.

Here it feels like you are just in Bali. Almost says enough, right? Balinese wooden benches with lots of colorful cushions, giant bean bags on the beach, and all the food is sharable. I love that. All ingredients are organic, and there's a lot of quinoa, lentils, and hummus on the menu. You know I love that. Just check the agenda, because you might end up at a techno party in the evening. You have to love that.

Smoothies, light salads, “small dishes” (as it says on the menu), and in the evening a lot of Asian dishes. Really, you make me incredibly happy with this. This place has an incredibly laid-back atmosphere, meaning there's a chance a guy with very long (rasta) hair in the corner is playing a tune on his guitar. Not bad either: surf dudes (who actually go surfing) come in and out here.

You know that Noordwijk is often visited by people with very flashy gold Rolexes, and there are often big cars parked outside. Nothing wrong with that, by the way, but at this beach bar, you have less of that, and sometimes you might want that. There are very good double beds on the beach where the staff is more than happy to come to you. I think they are incredibly good at fish dishes here; it can't get much fresher.
