HOW TO BE STYLISH ON THE PISTE
For me, one of the most enjoyable vacations is really skiing. And that despite the many disadvantages that this vacation also brings with it. After all, it's only one week of spring break, so all of the Netherlands is stuck in the same traffic jam on Saturday morning (we left very early at 00:30) and the week after, after having taken a little mountain trip and enjoyed a nice lunch in the sun on Saturday afternoon, we head back. And did I mention the crowds at the lift, in the restaurant, and on the slopes? And not to forget: the cold. I am a huge cold-baby, but also a fashion girl, so how do you combine this?
Well, I was recently at the headquarters of Gaastra and saw all kinds of super high-tech ski gear that looked good and were also really warm and dry. Incredible that you can make such a slim ski pant that keeps you warm. So being stylish on the slopes is really less difficult than it seems, after which you naturally want to move on to the après-ski in a fashionable way.
Here are my tips for the best look:
1. Don't go for extravagant prints, but keep it understated chic.
2. Opt for a fitted pant, preferably in a dark color with a feminine cut jacket on top. Think of a tailored jacket with a waist belt and underneath a fitted turtleneck, this gives a nice retro silhouette.
3. With a shorter and looser jacket, possibly with three-quarter sleeves, you get a more modern and hip look.
4. Dark colors, in my opinion, represent chic.
5. And for those who dare, a total look in white is also very suitable. Bright neon colors or sweet pastels do not create a stylish look, leave those for the puppies among us.
6. Wearing one color from head to toe makes you look taller and slimmer, quite handy with those puffy clothing items.
7. A (fake fur) fur trim instantly adds some chicness to your outfit, like that nice long white winter coat from Gaastra that you see above.
8. Accessories are definitely handy to emphasize a style. Go for a large Google sunglasses, they are very beautiful and sexy nowadays. And for après-ski, a nice oversized pair of sunglasses is also great. And yes, you can definitely apply red lipstick for a sexy look.
9. Make sure your gloves are the same color as your jacket, because nothing is as childish as white Mickey Mouse hands.
10. A nice oversized beanie or cool helmet completes your outfit.
And no, it doesn't matter to complain at the ski rental that the ski boots don't fit well, and this is only because the color doesn't match, I do that too. The overall picture has to be right, doesn't it?
If you want more inspiration for a cool winter look (because even if you're not skiing, you want to look warm and nice, right?), I definitely recommend taking a peek at this beautiful lookbook from Gaastra.
Enjoy your vacation in advance.
