New on Netflix in November: these are the movies and series you want to see

November is such a month where ‘shall we just stay home?’ suddenly becomes a very attractive proposal. Something delicious to eat, comfortable clothes on, and a good movie or series to go with it. Just that endless scrolling before you finally choose something can be skipped, in my opinion. Fortunately, there is enough to add to your watchlist this month. Keira Knightley is back as a spy, Leighton Meester ends up in a Christmas romance, and there’s also a promising series coming from our own country. Here’s what’s new on Netflix in November 2026.
A Dog’s Perfect Christmas (November 4)
A Christmas movie with a dog in the lead role: I really don’t need much more to become curious. Yet, A Dog’s Perfect Christmas it’s not just all coziness under the Christmas tree. When a family ends up in a crisis, a teenager, her grandfather, and his loyal basset try to keep the family together. Among others, Milo Ventimiglia and Dennis Quaid star. With this combination of family problems, Christmas, and a dog, it seems wise to have the tissues within reach.
Black Doves season 2 (November 5)
Keira Knightley is back as Helen, who combines her marriage to a politician with a rather complicated side job: leaking state secrets to a secret organization. Now that her husband Wallace has a chance to become prime minister, that double life becomes even riskier. And when her contact Reed gets into trouble, Helen must team up again with Sam, played by Ben Whishaw. New enemies, political intrigues, and two main characters who keep needing each other. If you haven’t seen the first season yet, this is a good time to catch up.
Avedon (November 11)
This one is for everyone who lingers a bit longer at a beautiful fashion image. Director Ron Howard focuses his camera on the life and work of photographer Richard Avedon, who photographed both celebrities and people outside the spotlight. For the documentary, he gained access to Avedon’s personal archive. We get never-before-seen photos, behind-the-scenes footage, and interviews with people who worked with him. I’m especially curious about the stories behind the images. A beautiful addition to the watchlist for fashion lovers.
Die Kaiserin season 3 (November 12)
The dresses, the palaces, and all the complicated relationships at court: we get to sit down for one last time. Die Kaiserin, also known as The Empress, is getting a third and final season. Empress Elisabeth struggles with her marriage, her health, and the expectations everyone has of her. When she leaves Vienna, her life takes a new turn. Devrim Lingnau and Philip Froissant return as Elisabeth and Franz. For those who love to disappear into a costume drama, November 12 is a date to remember.
Heartland (November 13)
A new thriller with Jessica Chastain deserves a spot on the list right away. In Heartland she plays Misty Jones, a former country star who has withdrawn from the spotlight for years. When her niece, an emerging musical talent, goes missing, she returns to Nashville to find her. There, she faces the dark side of the music industry and her own past. Garrett Hedlund and Ross Lynch also star in this film. Save this for an evening when you can watch undisturbed.
Guarding Stars (November 18)
Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki together in a romantic Christmas movie. Just the cast already makes me curious. Meester plays a bodyguard who must protect a famous actor during the holidays. On a ranch in Montana, the two pretend to be a couple, and you can imagine that keeping a professional distance becomes quite difficult. Guarding Stars is based on the book The Bodyguard by Katherine Center, with Andie MacDowell also in the cast. For this, the Christmas lights can be turned on already.
The Altruists (November 19)
Julia Garner in a story about money, ambition, and a relationship that becomes increasingly complicated: that sounds like a good combination. In this eight-part miniseries, she plays Caroline Ellison, opposite Anthony Boyle as Sam Bankman-Fried. Together, their lives become intertwined with the rise and fall of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX. What starts with great ideals culminates in a billion-dollar fraud. The series shows how their ambitions and their relationship influence each other. It’s that personal side that makes me curious about the story behind the headlines.
Toos: The Van der Valk Kidnapping (November 26)
Also from our own country, something is on the agenda this month. Lies Visschedijk and Frank Lammers play Toos and Gerrit van der Valk in a drama series inspired by the kidnapping of Toos in 1982. While her family does everything to get her back, a police officer goes undercover in Hotel Nuland. Meanwhile, Toos must try to survive, and the pressure on her family keeps mounting. The series is released on a significant date: November 26, exactly 44 years after the kidnapping.
