Inspired by…

I hope you have half an hour when you ask me who inspires me because then I immediately climb onto my soapbox. Our Peggy of course. Unbreakable, so strong, full of life wisdoms (“It’s eat or drink on an evening, May. The choice is yours.”) and daily survival tactics (“I accept every piece of cake that any Sanoma colleague hands out and then throw it in the trash. If I have to explain why I don’t take cake, it takes an eternity. They don’t understand.”) and I can still drool over her bag and shoe collection and her stack of Hermès scarves.

Harriet Calo is my other great role model. I have here written a whole ode to her of which ‘living well is the best revenge’ is my daily motto. Always stay kind, even when the other is far from civilized. I don’t always succeed, but I do try.

And my mother of course. The charming little lady who is ultimately the toughest. She was once robbed while walking with my father in the harbor of Rio (you should know my father is a captain) and while my father had a gun pushed against his head and boys were trying to snatch his Rolex, my mother said: “It’s a toy gun.” “Are you sure?” my father asked somewhat uncomfortably. She nodded firmly and they turned towards their attackers. “And now you lot get lost, go shame yourselves,” shouted my little mother. And only a cloud of dust remembered what had just happened.

My muses, I could talk for hours about them, in short. That’s why I find it so nice that Moroccanoil (you know, the finest and best smelling hair product) encourages us to embrace those who inspire us. The occasion for that celebration is the opening of their webshop (yay!) in the Netherlands and their new Smooth Collection (twice yay!) in the Netherlands.

From now on you can throw all those nice items, hop, into your digital basket and have them at home the next day. I will be the first to order the Special Edition of the Moroccanoil Treatment that makes my hair super soft, detangles my children's hair in a breeze, and is also perfect for dry elbows. A tip from Ilham Mestour, speaking of inspiring women.

I would say; you know what you have to do. Go wild in the store and put those you love in the spotlight. On Instagram with the hashtag Inspiredbywomen and on Twitter with #inspiredbywomen and @Moroccanoil.
