Look, if I could, I would have my own glam squad like the Kardashians to do my makeup every morning. But alas, they come hand in hand with a rather hefty price tag so I guess I’ll just stick to doing it on my own. Which means there is always room for the occasional error. But don’t worry, don’t panic, it happens to the best of us and they’re dead easy to fix.

Eyeliner

Instead of having the perfect winged eyeliner, I always find myself walking around with a smudged swirl that no longer peaks in the corners. An error that might be made when applying it to begin with. Eyeliner’s a tough cookie. It’s one of those trial and error processes. In the morning you’ll probably use a cotton bud to make sure it’s perfectly winged, but you won’t be using those throughout the rest of the day. So here’s a tip: use waterproof products and a concealer as a base. These products guarantee everything will be fixed for an entire day.

The wrong foundation

One of those things we still see a bit too often: using the wrong foundation color on your face. I’ve had it happen to me before too. You’ll be in the store and think that you found the perfect shade and then figure out it’s at least three shades darker than you need once you’re home. The solution? Mix it with your day cream. It’ll make the color lighter and get rid of the blotchy look.

Lipstick

Lipstick is another challenge. I hardly ever wear it because I manage to smear it everywhere after three minutes. Use a concealer on your lips as a primer. You will no longer have to worry about having lipstick stuck on your teeth or in the creases of your lips.

Wenkbrauwen

Too small, no shape or uneven; eyebrows are so important for your face. So if you aren’t a tweezing pro, it’s better you ditch the tweezers and grab some powder and a pencil. And if that too is too much of a challenge and your brows look way too dark then all you need is a brow brush. Brush those brows, the shade will fade, and then opt for a lighter shade to fill them up.

Mascara

Mascara needs to be applied in thin layers. And each layer needs a few seconds to fixate before applying the next. Always have a cotton bud somewhere in sight in case you get any mascara above your lashes. Don’t want your mascara to clot? Make sure you securely close it because clotted mascara means it’s dried out.

Spots

Woke up with a pimple on your face? Don’t go crazy with foundation because that will only emphasize your spot. Use a concealer with the same shade as your face. Make sure it’s a liquid one, spread it out evenly, and let it dry. Top it off with a bit of powder and you’re good to go.

Look, I’d prefer to sit in Elles' chair every morning to get a layer of paint on my face and have my lashes curled. But well, I don’t have that much time, so I’m just working with the powder and the brush myself. You probably recognize that time shortage. And because of that, a mistake does sneak in sometimes. No worries, don’t panic, it can be easily solved. or Wim Thompson Instead of a.

tight line on the eyelid, there’s a smudged line during the day that no longer runs up in a nice swirl, but now sadly hangs down. Or you make the mistake right from the start by going off course. Eyeliner is also quite tricky. It’s really a matter of practice makes perfect. In the beginning, you can correct with a cotton bud, but not during the day. Then it’s handy if you’ve used waterproof products and a concealer as a base. Guaranteed that it will stay in place all day long. Yesterday I wrote.

that we, Dutchies, are really masters at this: choosing the wrong foundation color. Now I sometimes grab the wrong color from the shelf or think in the store that it’s perfect and once home it’s three shades darker. Solve it by mixing it with day cream. That way you definitely lighten it and still cover up spots and imperfections. Lipstick is a bit of a hassle. That’s why I never wear it, because it ends up everywhere after three minutes where you actually don’t want it. Concealer on the lips is actually a perfect primer. This way it won’t go anywhere and you don’t have to worry about lipstick settling in lines or leaving a mark on your teeth.

Eyebrows

And even that is tricky, because sometimes it quickly becomes so dark that it looks more like tattooed lines than natural brows. Solve it with a brow brush. Brush a lot and you’ll comb the powder out of the brow. Time to fill them in with a lighter color again.. Mascara is applied in thin layers. And between each layer, you wait a few seconds so it can set. Then hold a cotton pad above your eye and blink a few times. This way you prevent marks above your eyes. If it happens anyway? Let it dry completely, then you can easily wipe it away afterwards. If it’s still wet, it will only get worse if you touch it. Don’t want your mascara to clump? Make sure to close your mascara tightly, because clumpy mascara means it’s dried out.
