BEING SICK, THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE IT FUN

Or well, fun... It will never be fun, but you might as well make the best of it. I don't have much experience with being sick because thank God I'm never sick, but usually, I am up for it once a year, and that's good too. And that is now. For a while, I had been feeling under the weather and just not quite fit, but last Friday it hit me hard and I was sniffling, shaking, and sneezing at the office. That continued all weekend and still is now, although it's almost over and I've decided that it will be completely over tomorrow. Anyway, being sick then. It sucks, it's annoying, and just like the Tax Office, we can't make it more fun, but we can make it easier.

Binge-watch series
Being sick = lying in bed all day. And lying in bed all day = binge-watching series. Those are things you normally have to give up your weekend for, or cancel appointments for, or just don't have time for. But now you do. I watched almost 2 seasons of Penoza and look, otherwise, I would have needed weeks for that.

Declutter your home
Since you are inside all day, you should make sure you are in a pleasant environment. Come on, clear everything away and tidy up, then at least you won't be bothered by that.

Change your bed
Because you lie in it ridiculously much (see next point) and there is nothing nicer than a crackling white freshly cleaned bed. Really, that makes a huge difference.

You finally know what it's like to be a cat
Cats sleep an average of 16 hours a day and between binge-watching Penoza, I slept the day away. In the evening, I went down with a good sleeping pill around 9:00 PM and woke up 12 hours later. All in all, I might have slept more than Cat Disco, so now I know what that feels like. By the way, speaking of Disco, that brings me to the next point.

Your cat is very happy
Really, she thought it was a party, never left my side, and happily walked over me all day in bed and snuggled up next to me during the naps. We haven't had that much quality time in ages.

Cancel all your appointments
I had quite a few fun things planned for this weekend, but I canceled everything. With a heavy heart, by the way. But if you don't give in to it, you'll never get over it and you'll stay in bed longer than necessary. The only social activity I did was go to Jet's birthday on Sunday night because I really wanted to give her a birthday kiss. I sat there for exactly 30 minutes, drank two cups of tea (while everyone else was of course having wine and beer) but I couldn't manage to have a conversation, so I slipped away and went straight back to bed. But best friends ask for exceptions to the cancel-everything rule.

Don't be afraid of medication
I know people who refuse to take paracetamol or other pills, “because that's not natural.” I find that such grand nonsense. The first thing I did on Saturday was walk to Kruidvat and I stocked up massively. Paracetamol with codeine, nasal spray, Voltaren K, Citrosan, the whole shebang. Works like a charm. Oh, and don't forget the extra soft tissues. They are of vital importance.
