CFDA Awards

The fashion party of the year

Last night, everyone who is anyone in New York was at the CFDA Awards, which you could call the Oscars of the fashion world.

Kim Kardashian made her first appearance after the world learned of her second pregnancy. She arrived at half past eight when everyone was already seated. “To avoid the cameras” was given as an explanation, but it probably had more to do with feeling nauseous over a pot because I think we will find a Louboutin that doesn't hurt before we see Kim Kardashian walking around the press.

Fortunately, her pregnant body (because with Kim there is a risk of swelling) still fit into her outfit from Proenza Schouler, whose designers were nominated. Furthermore, Michael Kors, Tom Ford, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Thakoon, Alexander Wang, Diane von Furstenberg, Victoria Beckham, and Tabitha Simons strolled over the red carpet.

The best accessory of the designers was definitely a top model. So Alexander Wang came with Anna Ewers, Gilles Mendel with Hilary Rhoda, and Joseph Altuzarra with Liya Kebede. A little tip from my side for the aforementioned men. An accessory is meant to lift you up, these slender giraffes make you look like little dwarfs. Maybe it’s a good idea for Anna and Alexander to swap shoes and also have a small stool in front of the photo wall from now on? Just a little tip, you know, a tip.

Just a quick recap of the winners, because that’s what it’s all about anyway. The Row (Mary-Kate and Ashley, of course) won the award for best designer. Rightly so, because The Row is fantastic, although it’s ridiculously expensive. Tom Ford is the best at designing men’s wear according to the committee, and if it’s up to them, you should go to Tabitha Simons for the best accessories.
