D&G VS. ELTON JOHN, WHO DO YOU BOYCOTT?
Both parties are not to be trifled with. A clash between the two would certainly mean fireworks, and so it happened.
Dominico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana faced off against Elton John and David Furnish this weekend, after they spoke out against same-sex marriage and referred to children conceived with the help of artificial insemination and IVF as 'synthetic' in an interview with the Italian magazine Panorama . Elton John, who said ‘I do’ to his husband last December with whom he has two sons, is furious.
The British pop legend harshly criticized the Italian design duo via Instagram and called for a boycott of their popular brand. “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as ‘synthetic’? And shame on you for pointing your judgmental fingers at IVF, a miracle that has enabled countless loving people, both straight and gay, to realize their dream of having children. You outdated ideology no longer fits in this time, just like your fashion. I will never wear Dolce & Gabbana again. #BoycottDolceGabbana”
The Rocketman-singer immediately received support from the likes of Ricky Martin, Sharon Stone, and tennis star Martina Navratilova.
Dominico and Stefano, openly gay themselves and even a couple until a few years ago, have since responded by emphasizing that their comments are not meant to judge anyone, but are merely their opinion. That Sir Elton is trying to suppress that opinion Mr. Gabbana even calls fascist and countered with a #boycotteltonjohn. You see, the gloves are off and the claws are out.
