From everyday items to Christmas decorations

COSTS NOTHING, BUT IS SO MUCH FUN AND READY IN NO TIME FOR TONIGHT

I really love Christmas decorations and every year I manage to empty out the entire HEMA and Bijenkorf with the most beautiful baubles and garlands. The problem is that I then store them in a box in the basement for eleven months, forget about them the next year, start buying again, and then it all adds up to quite an expensive joke. So, to think a bit budget-wise (because we like that at Amayzine, as it leaves you with some extra cash for the latest Céline or Chloé), here’s a list of tips on how to make Christmas decorations from things at home. Just as cheap, just as fun, and also quite easy, so you can get to work to bring your home into a Christmas atmosphere for tonight.

Corks
I assume that there is often a pop said during the holidays and that there is also quite a bit of wine chilling. You can do something with those corks. For example, you can use them as name cards by making a notch in the cork, you can use them as stamps, or you can create a special little artwork that can hang in the tree.

Snow light
You don’t need much creativity to see that a light bulb looks like a snowman. Just be a little careful with the bulb, as it breaks easily. A bit of marker and paint, and you’re done.

Key snowmen
You probably have (I certainly do) a lot of keys on your keyring for which you have no idea which door they open. You can now transform them into snowmen. Spray them white, dress them up with some nice wool, and you’re done.

Sparkling champagne
With a bit of glue and some glitter, you can get quite far. First drink them empty, that seems quite logical to me, and then sprinkle with glitter, color, and a string. Then the empty bottles can go straight into the tree instead of the glass bin.

Plastic snowflakes
I find recycling quite a thing. For me, plastic bottles usually end up on the balcony for the first half year, only to be thrown directly into the trash without a deposit or anything. But now, they get a new life. All you need are some markers, glue, ribbon, and imagination. Seems clear, right?

Snowman golf ball
It’s not going to get much easier. A golf ball (probably lying around somewhere at your dad's in a corner) and some markers. Done.

Vintage car
If you have Instagram, you’ve definitely seen this at least once. If not, you’re not looking closely. So gather some old toy cars, wrap a little tree with a string around it, and you’re done.
