In 4 steps to beautiful nails

IF MAY CAN DO IT...

To the outside world, it seems like I go through life quite groomed. Only my true intimates have ever found me without makeup (poor them) and I would rather bring my child seven minutes late to school than have to walk across the schoolyard with wet hair.

But if you look a little closer, you can see that something is often wrong. Sometimes I forget to put mascara on one eye in the morning rush, for example. And I realize that halfway through the day. And it is more the rule than the exception that my nails are not completely well-groomed. Fast-chipping nail polish is one of the problems, but also my chronic impatience. But now it has to stop. Therefore, here are the tips I have gathered to get beautiful nails, because the one who knows how not to do it is the best to tell you how to do it right.

1. Go pee

That is my biggest distraction. The moment I twist the cap back on the bottle, I realize that I actually really need to pee. I also think every time that I can manage it neatly; skirt up, stockings down without damaging my fresh polish. And every time it goes wrong. So rule 1: first pee.

2. Make sure you won't be disturbed

Fashion director Simone always paints her nails when she gets into the car. She paints while stationary, starts the engine, and lets her nails dry during the ride from home to work.

I often do it behind my desk, but I can imagine that this is not necessarily desired in every office space and moreover, it is no guarantee that you won't be disturbed for a while. My tip is to do it in the bath. You can just relax there, and for restless types like me who don't really allow themselves to rest, this is a win-win situation. I am immediately forced to take a break.

3. Use a base

I never did that either. Because then the session took even longer and I just didn't have time for that. But a base coat will help you through the winter. First of all, it is a protection for your nail (yes, you might not care, neither do I), but this way the actual polish dries faster. Ha. That's what we want. And when you remove your nail polish, it also comes off easier and your fingers aren't covered in rouge noir. Saves time and hassle. Base coat under the actual polish and a layer over the polish. This way everything stays on longer and you can skip your nail polish ritual for a few days.

4. Choose the right polish

I have conducted thorough fieldwork and ultimately crowned the polishes from Essie and OPI as the best. They dry the fastest and last the longest. It's really no coincidence that professional nail salons work with Essie and OPI.

And now I really can never appear on Instagram with a chipped nail again... A nice resolution for the new year.
