Frozen explosion
7 things you must, want, and will know
Frozen. Even if you don't have kids, you must have heard of it. Because my daughters, finally, have outgrown the Nijntje era, the laptop is now opened in the evenings and we watch the adventure of Anna and Elsa together. And we are not alone. Frozen is all over the place and is now even penetrating the modeling world. In case you were living under a rock or had your head in a cloud, let me tell you why you need to know about Frozen.
- According to Facebook, it is the movie that has been talked about the most.
- It is called the first feminist Disney movie ever, although I honestly don't see that aspect. The opening song is already about ‘maybe I will meet The One’ and if the one turns out not to be the one, Anna finds another man by her side. But okay.
- The movie is the most downloaded on iTunes ever.
- Elsa's dolls have dethroned Barbie for the first time in all those years (sorry, that's a joke for Frozen connoisseurs). Now it was Barbie no longer the most wanted doll to place under the Christmas tree but Elsa.
- Poppy Delevingne went to a party dressed as Elsa.
- Designer Alfred Angelo has wedding dresses drawn inspiration from Elsa's ice dress (which is really fantastic, her figure and her too).
- And then maybe the best news. Rei Kawakubo, you know, her from Comme des Garçons is launching a collection based on drawings from the film. Where to buy? At doverstreetmarket.com. I'm going to order now. In quadruple.
PS. Do you want to see why Elsa is so fantastic and beautiful? Check out this song on YouTube. I'm giving you the Dutch version because I think it is sung much better than in the American version. Applause and a bow for Willemijn Verkaik and Noortje Herlaar.
