Louis Vuitton and De Buurtboer are a match

Last week I received the nicest mail there is. Namely from De Buurtboer. We have had them once before here at the editorial office had. It was so incredibly good and because we had a big shot from Louis Vuitton visiting, I thought it was an excellent idea to have the farmer come by again.

Two crates full of bread from the best baker, cold cuts from a bio butcher, amazing fish, special spreads, and crispy lettuce. You can assemble a crate yourself, but I love to be surprised. I made a salad of beets, grilled carrots, and smoked trout. The carrots are already grilled, but super fresh. Saves a lot of time. The goat cheese that was also delivered was gone after one lunch, so incredibly delicious. Even more of a party with a bit of artichoke hummus on top. And then you also get a few bottles of real apple juice or other delicious fruit. Well, the Parisian ladies from Louis Vuitton were impressed.

I hope of course also from my presentation skills, but also from De Buurtboer. Fortunately, Amayzine and our neighbors with whom we always have lunch were also allowed to eat from the crate and even the guys who always grab a white bread with Nutella and get jittery from the words chickpeas and rice cakes were enjoying themselves.

Forgive me, I read very little. Books at least. Yes on vacation, but it has often happened that when I flew home again, the book was not finished and was also not read anymore.

On the other hand, I have rows of cookbooks in the cupboard. My latest acquisition is ‘Light!’ The recipes in this book are incredibly Jetty-proof and easy to describe, so you don't spend hours in the kitchen. The photos also look very appetizing. All wheat and lactose-free, but believe me: you can also easily cook from this for your boy.

Perfect for the cocktails

The doorbell rings here very often at the editorial office. Almost always packages are delivered, but suddenly someone stood at the door on Thursday asking if we could come outside.

There was a very nice van transformed into a bar. We all got to tap an ice tea from Pure Leaf and it was quite delicious.

So delicious that I immediately stocked up on a bunch of bottles for the cocktails on King's Day. I know, maybe not exactly the intention of this light drink, but this weekend I was anything but the fit girl.

The best day of the year

For years it has been the same. We gather in the Jordaan at my parents' house. Everyone brings enough food to lay a foundation and enough drinks to build cocktails.

It is always a bit of a struggle because we start early and party the night before as well. Dear friend Elisabeth is often the cocktail chef, Merel makes the tastiest sandwiches, and I was frying eggs with bacon yesterday. In front of my house, my nephew and niece are making poffertjes, so we order a few portions from there. “Wow, phew, I’m having a bit of a hard time” and “Oh, I shouldn’t think about alcohol yet” are forbidden sentences. Around 1:00 PM we are done eating and drinking, we fill bottles and jerry cans with our own brewed drinks and hit the road. Looking for cheesy top 40 music and even more fun friends.

I don't want to know how many liters of sweet junk and lukewarm cans of beer I have drunk and I think I also walked to the poffertjes stall a few times and I picked up some fries with peanut sauce. Man, everything tasted incredibly good. I was in bed by 10:00 PM, so I was still reasonably okay on my bike, but no way am I going to exercise today. Well I started the day today with a carrot-apple-ginger juice. To stay a bit in the orange atmosphere and to slowly play healthy Jet again. I am already incredibly happy.
