First aid for

getting make-up out of your clothes

How often I make a mess with food, drinks, and make-up is absurd. I know it, but my surroundings know it even more. When my friends and I to eat out go out, extra napkins are often requested for me as soon as we enter (really). And if I were to learn from it and focus on my motor skills (because I think there is really something wrong with that), I might be able to keep my messiness under control. But hey, I'm not Coco if I suddenly start thinking logically, so instead, I've become a stain removal expert over the years. Lipstick mark? Doctor Coco has the remedy.

1: Never rub!

A very simple lesson I learned from my mother is that you should never, ever rub at your stain. Many people tend to press like crazy. Don't do that. Instead, you gently dab, accompanied by large amounts of water.

2: Vacuum it up

If you have powdery stains from eyeshadow, blush, or powder foundation, then put the vacuum on it. Just make sure that the ‘mouth’ of the hose is clean, but that seems logical to me (not the first time for me, by the way). This way, you remove most of the stain. If there are still remnants, use a bit of dish soap and some water. Just make sure to apply point 1.

3: Dive into your kitchen cabinet

My kitchen cabinet is a paradise of cleaning products. No Blokker or drugstore is safe with me; I always come home with the latest cleaning gadgets (I had already admitted that my shopping behavior is a bit strange, right?). Stupidly enough, nine times out of ten I end up back with my favorite product: ox gall. An ancient soap with which my grandmother used to scrub her skirts (something about an apple and a tree, yes). Very suitable for greasy stains like foundation and mascara. What you can do first when you have such a stain is to use a cotton swab with alcohol to remove as much of the stain as possible (don't push). Then dab with plenty of water and finally use the ox gall as a kicker.

And for all stains: ATTACK IMMEDIATELY. Got it?
