Restaurant scents

– which ones do you wear and which ones don't –

Dining out is of course one of the most fun and delicious things there is. I just have to set aside some irritations first. For example, I always get annoyed by people who talk extremely loudly to show how much fun they are having, but also by people who don't say a word to each other (maybe that's not an annoyance but more a pity factor) or by people who smack, but also by long waiting times and whatever. Quite a lot actually. That I still go out to eat is a miracle now that I think about it.

Back to the point. Another annoyance is perfumes. Just when you get a nice meal served, all those aromas disappear due to the strong scent of your dining companion. It's really quite annoying when someone wears a scent that is way too heavy or way too sweet that comes off as too overpowering.

You should choose a neutral scent that doesn't create a cloud around you. So heavy evening scents should be avoided and don't opt for the extremely sweet ones either. Additionally, you should do a small spray in your hair and further under your clothing. This way you ensure that you wear a nice scent, but you are not the loud aunt who ruins the dinner. Always choose an eau de toilette instead of an eau de parfum or eau de cologne.

Scent families
The scent families that you should look into are chypre, amber, and citrus. Chypre scents are sophisticated and classic. They are often composed of bergamot, rose, and patchouli that create a classic effect, but are certainly not outdated and overpowering. Amber scents are generally often full and sensual and can become overpowering if sprayed too much. Citrus sounds very summery and intense, but in combination with a type of wood, grapefruit, and pomelo, it becomes a bit more neutral. It thus retains the fresh effect.
