MAY’S HOLIDAY
The paths on, the mountains in
“He is four wheel drive with winter tires and I also added snow chains,” said the head of press and media from Renault to me. I laughed, that seemed a bit unnecessary. It was about 8 degrees in the German Sauerland, let's just say spring. So with that Renault Kadjar only with four sturdy winter tires (and that last part only because the insurance requires it) we would be just fine.
Until my father called me with a weather update. The mercury would drop in Sauerland to a feels-like temperature of -15… Like a madman, I biked into the city to buy thermal underwear for my whole family. Of course, for way too much money. I was in a hurry and thus overly sensitive to sales techniques, so I walked out of the store with (my beloved must NOW stop reading) 325 euros worth of socks, mittens, scarves, and shirts.

The jackets went into the bottom compartment of the ingenious trunk system, we plugged our phones into the charger, listened to the Top 2000 via the super duper Bose sound system until Arnhem, and zoomed smoothly to Sauerland.
Checked into the hotel and settled at the table, two of my three girls came to me with an Important Announcement. “We want to go home…”.
Usually, that is the start of a great vacation.
