Wonder water
– Your skin clean in one go –
There are indeed more beauty terms and new products being launched into the world. So you can now certainly dream of the BB's and CC's, the products with argan oil for sure too, but one thing that we are seeing a lot of right now is micellar cleansers (pronounced: mee-sell-air). Sounds very exciting, but I will explain what this trend actually does for your skin in simple terms.
Where does it come from?
Micellar sounds quite French and yes, that's where it comes from. The water there is so hard that it is not very good for the skin. Soap cannot dissolve and deposits the minerals on the skin. As a result, the skin feels more like sandpaper than a soft baby skin.
What is it?
They are water-based cleansers that contain micelles. There is a certain substance in it that binds to all impurities. All those surfactants together form a group; a micelle. Together, that is a kind of magnet that attracts fat and dirt. Put it on a cotton pad and you easily wipe away dirt and makeup.
Why?
This is an extremely gentle cleansing. For example, no perfume is used and it is suitable for every skin type. Tap water is quite hard, but micellar water is very soft. And it also works soothingly.
Why not?
Well, I actually wonder that too. There is a downside, as it does leave a tiny bit of dirt on the skin. So you can still work with a bit of lotion. The advantage is that you can remove both eye makeup, lip makeup, and base makeup with a cotton pad. So you don't need a lot of other bottles and tubes.
