Lonneke Nooteboom has her site Stylemyday where she posts her outfit daily and if you follow her a bit, you'll see that there are quite a few different designer bags passing by. That's not surprising, because what Lonneke has could almost be called a serious bag addiction I would love to take a look in her closet. Her new acquisition is a Boy Bag from Chanel and she celebrates that with Amayzine.
How many designer bags do you have?
“Phew, do you really want to know? I have an incredible shoe and bag addiction that I will never get rid of. I think I have about fifty bags lying in the closet. It's really getting out of hand, so I've decided to sell a few bags on Designer-Vintage. This week, a number of my Givenchy, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, and Alexander Wang pieces will be for sale, and one item will be auctioned for a good cause.”
How did you get this beauty?
“This Boy Bag from Chanel has been on my wishlist for over two years. It's of course a bag that you don't just buy. During a romantic weekend with my husband, it (THE bag, that is) was staring at me. When I was still recovering from seeing my dream wish just sitting there in the window, my love was already inside the boutique. Indeed, a huge box with a bow came home with us. By the way, it did sit on the kitchen table for a few days before I really dared to unpack it to use. Now I can't live without it.’
What does a bag do for a woman?
“I always say in my styling sessions: invest in a nice bag, it completes all your outfits. It's a bit of a gulp at purchase, but you get so much (love) back for it. The same goes for shoes. I always look at someone's bag, shoes, and teeth, and then I immediately know what kind of meat I have in the tub.”
What about the contents? Are you a chaotic person or neatly organized?
“Actually, I am a big chaotic person. Because I often switch bags, I always lose something. I don't panic about that, because I know for sure that it's in one of my other bags. It's that simple. I know that there are also those handy bag-in-bag bags, but I think I'm not good at that either, because then my bag is huge again and then again tiny. That all makes no sense.”
What do you always carry in your bag?
“I can't live without my iPhone, lip gloss, and wallet. If I have a slightly larger bag with me, I also put my agenda, menthol spray, Laura Mercier mini concealer (ideal for quickly touching up something on the fly), perfume, charger, and something to snack on in it. Oh yes, and a comb, because if your hair looks good, you can also put on a garbage bag, I always say.”
If a woman could only have one bag, which would it be?
“This is a tough one. What do you have to live with your whole life? Then I go for the always classy Hermès Birkin Bag. It's been beautiful for a thousand years and will always remain so.”
Should a bag also be practical?
“No way. It has to be beautiful. I'd rather leave half of the contents at home if the right bag matches my outfit.’
And lastly; is there still one on your wishlist?
“You understand that I am now well fed with my new purchase, but secretly I have my eye on the Mini Kelly or the Constance from Hermès.”
