NEW WAYS OF

Some women still love it when their man holds the door open, puts a hand on her back as he guides her through a party, pulls out her chair, and shows up with flowers on the doorstep for every date. I find that hopelessly outdated. We can't keep shouting that we want equality between men and women on one hand while still expecting men to treat us like princesses on the other. Is courtesy dead then? Are you crazy, but it is different. Or at least, it should be.

The morning text

I recently wrote extensively about this here and I think this is a nice modern courtesy. A WhatsApp message costs nothing, is a gallant gesture, but can also easily be done by the woman.

The group chat

You are added by your new love to the group WhatsApp of his friends. Het ziet er goed uit and you can easily return the gesture.

The birthday

He quickly checks the birthday of your parents and sister so he can delight them with a congratulatory message and thus makes a good impression on both you and them. Ah Google, where would we be without you.

During work hours, it has already been messaged that you will be done with work around 7:00 PM and he will come over to eat. Instead of having to have the “what shall we eat” conversation then, he has already ordered sushi this afternoon and it will be delivered neatly at 7:15 PM.

The Facebook tag

In an album with party photos from last weekend, he sees an extremely unflattering photo of you where you are also tagged. He calls or texts you immediately that there A Situation is a threat to come if you don't quickly refuse the photo on your own profile. Well, that's really quite courteous.

No phone

And the classic: during a date with you, he never ever looks at his phone. And neither do you.
