NO TIME TO EXERCISE? no, YOU DO HAVE TIME
“I don't have time” is a sentence I hear often.
No time to exercise, no time to walk the dog, no time to cook, no time to call your grandma. No, that's not it. You actually do have time; you just don't want to make time for it. That's something very different. We all have time, but what are our priorities? What do we want to spend our time on?
I also often run into these things. I have quite a busy life: I am graduating, I also work as a Personal Body Plan Coach, I write 5 to 6 times a week for my website Healthyfans.com, I still want to have a social life, there are things to do around the house, and I want to exercise and prepare my meals for the coming days. Phew, actually quite a lot. I often get the question: how do you manage to do this?
I will be honest with you: sometimes I don't know either. I have days when I just really don't know how to schedule these things because they are so full. Sometimes exercise gets pushed aside, and due to stress (I experience this too), I start snacking. Do I feel better because of this? Absolutely not. I actually feel worse because of it. For me, this is also a learning point. It's about falling and getting back up, but that's okay because the road to your goal is not a straight path. These learning moments are important: I get to know myself better through this.
How do I try to prevent this?
By exercising at the begin of the day . I set the alarm for 6:00 AM to go to the gym, then I have my workout done. After that, I can work and study the whole day from 9:00 AM. Personally, I really don't like exercising in the evening. I always try to schedule my workout sessions in the morning. As soon as I don't do this, I know there is a big chance that I won't go later in the day. After a whole day of studying, I find it difficult to motivate myself to exercise. Do you recognize yourself in this? Then I also recommend setting the alarm a bit earlier and just going to the gym early. By exercising, I always feel better and it gives me energy for ten, which is handy with a busy schedule.
How do I stay ‘on track’ with my nutrition? Meal prepping, meal prepping, and more meal prepping. I don't prepare my meals for the whole week because that can take an afternoon, and do we want to make time for that? I don't! So how do I do it? You can read about it here. I make my dinner in double and sometimes triple portions. I store the other portions in the fridge and take them to work the next day. That saves time the next day. I don't have to think about what I want to eat, and I don't have to go to the supermarket because I already have my food with me. Just heat it up and my lunch is ready to eat. This also prevents me from snacking or buying a chocolate bar at the supermarket because I can't resist the temptation, while something like that no longer fits in my daily calorie budget. I can recommend this to everyone.
In summary
My tips for a busy schedule: always schedule your workout, you will only feel better for it. Get up an hour earlier to train, and then you can go all out. Also, make a double portion of dinner, so you have your lunch for the next day, and this prevents you from snacking or eating something that doesn't fit into your Personal Body Plan.
Additionally, I am now very happy with the arrival of DoorMeal, which means I don't always have to prep meals myself: it's now done for me.
I hope you find these tips helpful.
