THE CORSET IN
We are not always happier when a fashion phenomenon from the past makes a comeback, (think of Palladiums or the culotte), and currently there is again a hype going on where we seriously have to ask ourselves if we are better off. The corset is back.
Wasp waist
According to eBay, the sale of corsets has increased by more than 50% since December, bloggers can't stop writing about the dizzying wasp waist of Lili James in the new Disney film Cinderella and among others Stella McCartney and Alexander Wang sent their models down the catwalk last fashion week with tight waistbands. But the trend goes beyond just fashion.
Waist training
The belts are actually often used as a beauty tool. Waist training they call it, the so-called training of the waist to become slimmer. The Kardashian sisters swear by it and other ‘very serious’ celebs like Snooki and Amber Rose are fans too. The idea is to lose centimeters by squeezing yourself for a number of hours every day. Kim even does it while she is happily cleaning, she demonstrated it to us yesterday on Instagram.
It may sound almost tempting, but doctors and experts are protesting vehemently. There would be no evidence for the effect of the technique. Your body would simply bounce back to its original state as soon as the pressure is released. Too intense waist training could even cause damage.
So only buy a corset if you feel like a trendy fashion statement, but if you really want to get a slim waist, we refer you to the gym or Jet's tips.
