It's birthday season again, you know. Or is it always like that? Anyway, this weekend I'm celebrating the thirtieth year of my elementary school friend. Given my overdressed nature, I have to be careful not to create a Pippa-moment (in other words, stealing the show from the bride). Moreover, I'm having the party in my hometown in the east of the country, so to not shock them too much and to keep the conversation going about something other than my crazy outfit, I'll leave the glitter pants, crop tops and my new blue eyeliner aside for a bit.
To blend in well with my almost makeup-free high school friends, I won't be slathering on makeup. Therefore, I emphasize my eyes with just a thick black eyeliner (Rimmel) that I let run up a bit at the end. I use an all-day mascara (Max Factor) for natural lashes. The foundation is taking a day off; I'm going for just a light bronzer (Guerlain) and a bit of concealer (Mac) under my eyes. I need to look healthy. Finally, my lips are puckered with shiny lip balm (Elisabeth Arden). Very natural, right?
The clothes
For most people, it's quite a task to pull everything out of the closet, but for me, it's a challenge to wear an everyday outfit. You won't see me quickly in a simple jeans and T-shirt; I prefer to wear striking clothing pieces. But it's not about me right now, so I'll do my best to downsize.
A black blazer always works well. This nice piece from the French label Sandro is a basic must-have and keeps my outfit nicely in check. Then I wear jeans, but a ripped one (Topshop). Is that okay, please? An oversized linen shirt (Zara) and simple leather lace-up heels (H&M Trend) create a successful provincial outfit. Secretly, I do have a very exciting bright blue bag (& Other Stories); I couldn't resist. Maybe I'll leave it in the car for the time being...
