THE WEEK THAT WAS
in 7 candies
We are back again to serve you all the fun, cheerful, scandalous, and juicy news of this week in seven treats. Just read along...
Meet Talvin
Of course, we've known for a while and they've even gotten a name, but since this week Talvin, aka Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris, is officially a thing. The American singer confirmed her relationship with the British DJ in the way one does in 2015; the first Instagram photo together. The couple, who have been spotted hand in hand since early April, are happily floating together on the celebrity-loved inflatable giant swan in the pool. The caption reads: ‘Swan goals’. Taylor, who usually goes through her boyfriends at a pretty fast pace, is over the moon and everyone can know it.
‘Orange Is The New Black’ is back
The reason why a rainy day is sometimes delightful, an evening on the couch a pleasure; a new season of your series. For your inner couch potato it's always a bit like Sinterklaas when Netflix decides to drop a new season with 14 fresh, 60-minute episodes available all at once. Pure indulgence. This week it was time for the third season of Orange Is The New Black, for which Netflix opened the floodgates just a bit earlier than announced. A wave of joy swept across the internet. In the coming days, there will be plenty of humor, drama, and lots of lesbians in orange suits on the menu. Bon appetit!
They're just like people
This is what you call fascinating news. Newspapers and bloggers were in an uproar this week because Brad, Angelina, and their six-pack offspring have flowneconomy . The superstar family, for whom it is daily fare that streets are closed, museums are shut down, and private jets are ready, took an Air France-flight from Paris to Nice in economy class. After neatly lining up for the gate, the Jolie-Pitts stored their own hand luggage in the overhead bin and then took their seats among ‘the ordinary people’. It was written that it would be a conscious choice by the power couple who does these kinds of things to down to earth possibly stay grounded.
Playboy Mansion not so fun after all
Who didn't occasionally (or regularly) indulge in The Girls of the Playboy Mansionbetween 2005 and 2010? A glimpse into the bizarre world of Hugh Hefner and his modern day harem. The Halloween parties, the grotto, the petting zoo, slip ’n slides in the garden and movie night. Holly, Bridget, and Kendra took us everywhere for 5 years. And they had such a good time. Or didn’t they? Holly Madison, Hef's then no. 1 girlfriend spilled the beans this week – 5 years after her departure from the mansion – mercilessly with the launch of her new book Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny. “The seemingly fairytale life in the mansion was very quickly a nightmare for her. Oppressive rules, manipulation, and a lot of backstabbing bunnies.” (…) “After losing her identity, self-worth, and hope for the future, she contemplated suicide in the bath,” the promotional excerpts read.
#BellyButtonChallenge
We also stumbled upon a new online hype this week again.. Under the #BellyButtonChallenge, people share a photo showing that they can touch their belly button with their arm reaching around their back. It would be a measure to see if you are too fat or not. Of course, in the past 3 seconds, you also tried to twist your arm around your belly, but don’t feel bad. You just don’t have flexible arms.
Touriya Haoud-Vaughan bankrupt
In the PR world, there is the saying ‘there is no such thing as bad publicity’. Yet that saying didn’t really apply to Touriya Haoud. The actress living in Los Angeles responded this week to the fact that her company in Amsterdam was declared bankrupt in March. THV PR closed its doors due to a debt of 67,000 euros. The company would never have had a fair chance in the Netherlands, Touriya stated. Interestingly, she mentioned her fight with former bff Sylvie Meis as the reason for her company's failure. The bad publicity she received from Sylvie would have doomed the PR agency. However, she shrugs off the debt she leaves behind in the Netherlands. “I’m not shocked by this. The company is closed, done,” she states nonchalantly. She promises that we won’t see her back in business in the Netherlands. In LA, Touriya will continue with her company under the name CURATOR LA. What’s in the name.
Fajah warns us!
A so-called cautionary tale from Fajah Lourens this week. The former actress and DJ, known for her well-shaped body, is suffering from leaking breasts. “It’s very annoying, so I have to go under the knife again. I’m really very sad about it,” says Fajah. She has had multiple cosmetic procedures on her breasts and regrets it immensely. “I wanted a breast enlargement back then, but now that I’m 33, I really advise everyone against it. I also made them way too big done.”
