As you know, I absolutely love summer, because I repeat that about every week and you have here, here and already read that here. What I am a bit less fond of is that after a day in the sun, your hair either takes on a completely different (read: unwanted) color or your hair feels and moves like a bunch of straw. DO. NOT. WANT. So that's why I've pulled out the creams and sprays that will help you this week and actually all summer long without worries.
What does it promise?
Alterna Bamboo has a Bamboo Beach collection every year. Limited products that care for your hair just as well as all the other products, but that are just a bit nicer in the sun. Why? I will tell you and I have tested it for you. They contain organic bamboo extracts, nourishing Tahitian coconut and therefore they smell so nice of mango and coconut. Maybe also nice to know that those ingredients, along with the special Color Hold technology, also protect against UV from the sun.
Need-to-haves
A while ago, I was in the sun for a week and when I got home, my hair was both completely dead and horrifically orange. That's why I was itching to test hair products . My choice fell on the Summer Sun Shine Spray and the Summer Sun-Kissed Smooth. The spray is a soft mist with an incredibly fruity scent. It not only protects but also provides optimal shine. So it's for during sunbathing, but also for a touch-up afterwards. The cream is specifically made to. prevent frizz . Which is also important, because after a dip in the sea, your hair is either very beachy or like a drowned mermaid. Spray a little or rub some into your hair, and you already have summer on your head. Seriously. That scent of mango and coconut is really maddeningly delicious. I have the bottles next to me and when May saw it, she first stared with her mouth open for three minutes and then she asked: “For your legs. For your glass? Give me a bottle.” Yes, yes, yes, because besides the fact that it smells incredibly good, it also looks very nice. The effectiveness is of course also quite important, so I tested the products for a week. Unfortunately not in the Maldives, but just in my own backyard, where the sun was fortunately shining a lot. The cream is very nice. I applied it to towel-dried hair myself, because otherwise I felt like I would have way too greasy hair. However, it absorbs quickly and actually works like a kind of conditioner. Your hair is cared for and straw-like hair is hard to find. Even after a day of intense sun, your hair still feels very soft. The Summer Sun Shine Spray is my favorite. The bottle, the looks, the scent, and the effectiveness. This is the ultimate pick-me-up after a day in the sun and has a little shimmer in it, creating a very nice shine. Both products also work very well for color retention, because there was no hint of red in my hair, while that is always lurking quite quickly. Oh, and did I already mention how nice that scent is? I'm addicted...
The test
Spray je een beetje of smeer je wat in je haar, dan heb je de zomer al op je hoofd. Serieus. Die geur van mango en kokos is echt al gekmakend lekker. Ik heb hier de flesjes naast me liggen en toen May het zag heeft ze eerst drie minuten met open mond gestaard en vervolgens vroeg ze: “Voor je benen. Voor je glas? Geef me een fles.” Eens eens eens, want buiten dat het godsgruwelijk lekker ruikt, ziet het er ook nog eens heel leuk uit. De werking is uiteraard ook best van belang en dus heb ik een week lang de producten getest. Helaas niet op de Malediven, maar gewoon in eigen backyard, waar de zon gelukkig wel enorm aan het schijnen was. De crème is heel fijn. Ik heb ‘m zelf op handdoekdroog haar aangebracht, omdat ik anders het idee kreeg veel te vettig haar te hebben. Hij trekt echter snel in en werkt eigenlijk als een soort conditioner. Je haar wordt verzorgd en coupe stro is ver te zoeken. Zelfs na een dagje intense zon voelt je haar nog heel zacht aan. De Summer Sun Shine Spray is mijn lievelings. Het flesje, de looks, de geur én de werking. Deze is na een dagje zon de ultieme oppepper en heeft een klein shimmertje in zich, waardoor je een heel mooie glans creëert. Beide producten werken ook heel goed voor kleurbehoud, want er was geen sprankje rood in mijn coupe te bekennen, terwijl dat altijd best snel op de loer ligt. Oh, en had ik al gezegd dat die geur zo lekker is? Ik ben verslingerd…
