5 reasons why you want to go to Barcelona now

Yesterday around this time I was in Barcelona. In a bikini. Just peeking here for a moment (for the diary, not for the bikini, ha ha, jokers). With a glass of cava in my hand and my toes already dipping in the private pool of a suite so beautiful that it almost takes your breath away. Today everything is different. Today I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, looked out the window, saw this terrible weather and suddenly realized that I was back in our green bean country. Every party comes to an end, as they say.

Buttt a ticket can of course be booked again in no time. And now is the perfect time to go to Barcelona. And here's why:

1. Rebajas

I secretly don't expect it, but if you don't know this word, then you've missed out. July 1st is the annual official start date of this absolute bargain fest. Almost all well-known retail chains participate in the ‘rebajas de verano’ where bargain hunting is made super easy for you. Throughout July and August, you can still grab clothes for 50 to even 70 percent (!) off. I'm telling you: you want this.

2. Zara is even more of a party

You must be a bit of a fool if you go to Zara in the Netherlands to buy dresses for your Barcelona trip. No no, with a half-empty suitcase going there and stuffed full coming back. Actually buying clothes in Spain from Spanish chains like Mango and Zara saves you quickly 30 percent on your receipt.

”Shopping + tanning on the beach = a top combination”

3. Two flights in one go

It can be quite intense to stroll through Madrid in 35 degrees without any cooling. But with my great friend Barça (fun fact: Catalans actually call it Barna, not Barça) you won't have any trouble at all. Shopping + tanning on the beach = a top combination.

4. Look out the window

And then you probably realize quite quickly that it's not a bad idea to park your butt on the Spanish beach. Today it's about más o menos 28 degrees, just so you know.

5. Foodporn

Empanadillas, Manchego, patatas bravas, Liquor 43, paella, pimientos de piquillo, gambas al ajillo, crema catalana, pata negra; DO I SERIOUSLY NEED TO GO ON? Don't forget good friend cava either. Really good cava is just so incredibly delicious.

Okay, are you convinced yet? And will you call me when we go? Gracias!
